The way I remember it is this way:

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to be free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Here's the major issue here. And i'll say it as blantanly as i can say here. If Mexico was not a country of Mexicans, but was a country of white people you'd see much less concern about it, even if they were criminals. Most conservatives or so prejudicial and racist and small minded they don't realize it themselves, and expose themselves by there stances.

I think immigration should be controlled. For reasons of economics, jobs, fairness to other Americans. If you want to be a citizen of America there is a process that can make it so. It doesn't mean you can't be American. Follow the process of law and your fine if not back you go. America simply does not have the resources to continue to take this and we must protect our influx of population. However some of the mass paranoia of people about this has me thinking there's more to it than just the reasons i've just described.

Yep, the only folks who don't want illegal immigrants in the US are just
bigoted scum using the issue to cover their neo-nazi agenda.

No of course not, i don't believe that. There are plenty of people who want it for the right reasons and not superficial shallow reasons. I am worried that's where some of this is coming from though.

So only the ones who don't follow your political ideology are the bigoted scum?

Sounds like you have a big future within the Democratic Party.  You've gotten their basic mantra down pat.

leadpig...you are a tool... a product of your own skin and media hacks.  It is you who see bigotry in everything not us.   You wish to assign a racial motive to everything... methinks it is an excuse for something.

My girlfriend is of mexican decent... my grand daughter is half.   I am very fond of both regardless of skin color.   I don't think they deserve any special treatment over anyone else tho.   I don't believe that they have any more right to break laws than anyone else... no less right either..

Now.. you take my girlfriend...  she hates illegals... really hates.   I have a hard time moderating her views.. she blames them.  It is all I can do to convince her it is the employers fault.  she sees them as unwashed, ungrateful and lazy scumbags and criminals who can't even speak one language... there are plenty that are like that to prove her point.   We do tend to attract the worst mexico has to offer.

And why is that?  why do we get the worst?  welllll....  we are accepting those who are willing to put themselves into virtual slavery.. to do so they are willing to break a countries laws.   They break the law to work for slave labor and hope to suck up social welfare... you aren't going to get anyone worthwhile with that immigration policy except by the sheerest of chance.

both my girlfriend and my grand daughter are more hispanic than you are negro sooo.. drop the attitude and the whining.

My political ideology is that they should not be allowed to run freely into America, due to population issues, Economic issues, which cause job and opportunity issues for other legal American citizens. I'd love to fulllfill our mantra to the letter and let every good person in who respects our great country and yearns to become a citizen, but unfortunately we can't do that. We can not handle such an influx and it can cause problems. People who want to follow the legal way of becoming a citizen, should be welcomed with open arms. That is my political ideology... i repeat it since you don't understand.

I do believe some of the paranoia is due to the immigrants ethnicity. Some people are affected by this. According to what you said Lasz you are on the good side of it, some are not. Once again you have gotten your tongues in the way of your ears and have not heard a word i said. Once again some of this uproar over immigration would not be happening if these people were of a different race. If you think even a small faction of that is not possible and could not be happening at all, then you are probably the one.

ledpig... You didn't need to mention race at all.   We are talking about a simple illegal activity.

Sure... If all the illegals were doctors and engineers and never accepted any of this countries social welfare and all spoke the language and did not insist we cater to them...

Yeah.. we might not be complaining so much but it would have nothing to do with their skin color.

I would welcome open borders but....  either we get rid of social programs for all people.. citizens and anyone else or... we give benifiets to only citizens.

Do that and you can have open borders.. but, to make it the worst of all both worlds... accept criminals and then give them the same benifiets as those who pay for them...

That is like putting out a bunch of bird feeders full of seed and then complaining that there are too many birds around.

Because Mexicans are the only immigrants to ever be discriminated against?  I've got news for ya, as soon as 20,000,000 Canadians cross illegally[/I] into our country and start leeching our welfare system dry, I'll have just as big a problem with them.
