Ya I remember the peace dividend talked about a lot back then, maybe the military didn't need to be as big after the U.S.S.R fell apart, and before all you guys jump on me about 9/11, that was an intelligence failure not a military one.

I do remember Clinton signing welfare reform, that was a huge savings to the budget and still is.

The guy we got in there now really poured huge money into social programs ie: the convoluted senior drug program, one of the biggest boondoggles I have seen.

Nope, we have anything but a conservative occupying 1600 now.

Do you think the omnipotent power for the executive branch is going to be be touted by the same folks then?

I goofed and voted for GW the first time, about two years into his first term I said to myself "my god we are getting the worst of both words with this guy"

I would compare his fiscal policies to a drunken sailors, but I don't want to disparage drunken sailors.

Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

Why is it that if Congress controls the taxation, borrowing and bill paying that the President is the one who gets credit or blame for the budget deficit?

Because unless there is a veto level majority, the president has a huge amount of control over the budget. And it is the executive branch that presents the budget every year.

When the President presents his budget, does he ask for the bridges to nowhere and federally funded pottery museums too?

Vote out congress and we can maybe get change.

You mean the republican controlled congress that has been in power since 94 and was just "voted out" last year... that congress?

No, I mean the 96% of congress that gets re-elected each time regardless of party.

Make a 5th term the exception in the house and a 3rd term in the Senate a rare occurance and we may change the status quo

Indeed. Idaho may get crowded.

Oh geez. You're actually whining about having your "freedom of speech" restricted?

No, not at all, but since you are appearing more and more dense, I can spell it out for you if need be.  Just let me know if you need help with your basic comprehension skills, they certainly appear lacking.
