I think the police do an idealisically nobel job and one I could never do or even want to.

I can think of VERY few reasons I would need a cop.
Or very few reasons I would ever call the police for anything.
Firemen, yes . EMS yes. Just not cops
Outside of a city. where yes they are indeed needed.
But most townships are overboated with police.
And lets face reality
I'd be willing to bet most cops dont join the force to become the local townships personaly revenue extortion agancy. Which in essense is what they are primarily used for anymore. Not in stopping crime. Not real crime anyway.
And most crimes arent stopped anyway. Only responded to.
and how many of the crimes commited actually end up being solved?
All you have to do is get robbed once to find out that unless you already know who did it. For the most part your SOL.
Its a nobel profession. it really really is.
Its just one that by and large isnt needed nearly as much as they are made out to be
