The people you can impress with a fancy rank are usually not playing this game for more than a few weeks ;)

Did you receive those derogatory remarks because you deserved them, or because it was percieved that since you had a good ranking# you must have exploited the system?

The reason nobody is impressed with rank is because it's meaningless.  It's meaningless because it's exploited.

IMO, the ones exploiting the system, whether it's for rank or simply for a few kills, are damaging the credibility of the game, as a game.  That has an affect on us all, whether we care about our individual rank or not.  Games have rules, and are supposed to be level playing grounds.  The players who can't conduct themselves responsibly ruin it for others.  In order for a game to continue to be entertaining, those that disrupt it need to be corrected or removed.

Even negating score itself, this CAN do long term damage to those that don't personally have friends in the squadron. I know you've got a lot of friends in this game Bat. You're a lovable guy! But many of us don't know them personally like you do, and such recurring incidents like this make me (and I can only vouch for myself) look upon the whole squad with... how shall I put it? Lack of respect I guess.

EDIT: That in itself might be temporary, who knows how quickly this will die down, but it's food for thought.

P.S. I can make chicken soup in a frying pan!! Just turn the heat down and be careful not to splash over the lip!

Sorry if you think I cut out the important bit, I felt for the sake of brevity, one might understand by saying "the friendship remains intact" -- didn't mean to twist your words.

P.S. You're just heating it up. You can boil water in a thimble, if you do it right. Pour chicken into frying pan, heat, serve! :D The low heat keeps it from burning off, but it takes longer to cook. Yes, I know. It's sad that I know this.

Mostly just because I had a low rank #. A lot of assumptions about me, my game style, my "skill" and my sexual orientation were made exlusively based on my rank. :D

One problem is: There is no community-wide agreement upon what an exploit is, and what not.

And rank wouldn't be that much more meaningful if not exploited - it depends on too many variable like style of play. You exclusively fly ENY 40 planes for the sole fun of doing it? You rankmay suffer.  You don't drive GV's because you find it boring? You rank will suffer enormously.
And is flying only 262's, Tempests & La's an exploit? Or always getting altitude before getting into a fight?

My main point is: While not agreeing on subtle details, most players do know about the somwhat low overall significance of rank. You can only impress the wrong people with it ;)

I think it's quite the opposite, Lusche. Before the first contest, before the really visible shenanigans like vulching second accounts, milkrunning the empty arenas, etc, I don't recall anyone making snide remarks about scores and low ranked players. Only since there've been numerous people exposed for various things related to rank, has there been such contempt for rank and low ranked players.

I think it's perfectly natural to want a system in place that lets you see how you compare to other players, and a system that is so skewed by players who spend hundreds of hours a month padding their stats can not do that.

You could see out but no one could see you or hit you at that matter. Many did this for some time then one day HTC did a patch and whalla problem gone. Whats the big Deal? Why dont you all play this for what it is.....A GAME...Wonder how many of you out there have downloaded or typed a cheat on a game you have at home...Learn to Deal with it....HTC will fix the problem A.S.A.P. Im sure. I call it gaming the game.

Also,  your all lucky it wasnt me... I would have landed a Goon on your runway w/ ak full up and taunted the heck out of you all...This would have been halarious to do. Oh heres one, how bout landing a 262 on an enmy CV....LOLROF   Well about his score...Any doubts   Take him to the DA youll all have something to learn Im sure...

See Ya in the GAME

You've nicely summed up everything wrong with the way a segment of the population plays the game. As for said persons "skill level":rofl :rofl :rofl

If I may contribute?

The longer I play this game the less and less I think  there is anyone who takes it so seriously to actually go out and spy. If there is they must be very few. I mean who would really bother?

I know there are squads who take their ranking very seriously but if someone calls a guy out as a spy you'd better have serious proof and even then its a matter for AH staff to deal with and it shouldnt be posted in forum or open comms.

Secondly I dont think rank means anything. Ive poked fun at guys who are ranked at the top with the way they fly bombers, take GVs out, and basically manipulate the game to get a higher rank. At the same time I'll bet any of the top 50 guys are pretty darn good fliers. A lot of them I personally know are. But really rank is kinda meaningless cause there are somelow ranked guys who have handed me my hat. You cant take anyone for granted because anyone can be behind the wheel of that red airplane coming at you.

I was in a squad with terrific guys and left it. Ive been offered to C/O a bomber squad and have been asked to join at least a dozen more. Right now squad life, and worrying about rank, doesnt fit me cause more then anything I want to learn the game. And learn it my way.

I wouldnt call anyone a spy in comms or in this forum. Im not the type that would contact AH either. But its AHs call to regulate the game not ours! I dont like the ranking system either but again its AHs call.

A glitch is not necessarily a recurring event.  It could be a corrupt line of code that is effecting a recurring anomaly.  Perhaps a bug may be a more appropriate term.

Anyone who knows Stampf should know that it is not his nature to make blind accusations from a blind emotional viewpoint.  I would go so far to say that most of the time his public opinions are limited to relevant issues.  He is usually more concerned with managing his Gruppe in an honorable and effecient manner.

Thanks Von,...but let it go man,...this one's long dead.  No offence was taken on this end by anything posted in this thread,...but Rich...you did make me go:huh

My first post was rather strongly worded, as I was there with snaphook and the rest of the 71st.  When you arrive at a fight, you usually don't give that wingless, burning aircraft a  second thought, but when said aircraft then pulls angle and starts firing at you...Damn man, that's an eyeopener.  The proceeding to fly, fight, land and repeat, is what brought this thread to life, in snaphook's perspective I am sure.

I blew the wings off his plane, and he kept right on fighting...I think everyone just hopes to see less of this kind of thing, not more.

Like I said earlier, I am sure this has been handled.

My thoughts on this kind of thing are known, so I will add only this.

If you have film of these incidents, please send them in to HTC. We have no ability to deal with these types of issues, other than helping HTC sort it out. As Skuzzy said, more film is always helpful.

I lit him up on a pure T shot with a mossie...turned him into a burning cigar in an instant, went on "directing traffic" while watching him spiral up to me. Turned on the film and gave him the kill so I could get it on film...no question the plane was manuevering and climbing. What really suprised me is he then "landed" a multi kill sortie within a minute or so. No way I could even get a hog on the ground that fast from even 5k (we were higher).

What saddens me even more is that you actually have other squad members defending his actions

Dont blame the person that happens to get the "Glich" or bug whatever. It's been going on for a while now.And i know of people that did not relog to get rid of it.

If you woudl think about it,it's HTC's problem to fix and it seems to be a problem with you that had to start this.Im sure skuzzy could look back and see who it is.

I see nothing wrong with it.Hell if i happened to have no name show up and i could not die i would just sit on a base and kill people.

Get over it,HTC will take care of it.
