What rides have you......
« on: December 28, 2007, 06:30:19 AM »
.............used the most to get your kills?

As of the past few tours the tiger has been my main vehicle to use to deliver death.  Other rides Ive used on a regular basis are the F4U1C, F4U1D, Hurr2C, B25H, A20, Panzer and Firefly.

Tiger:  even though the Tiger Tank's armor get no justice and its 88mm cannon can bounce off an M3 :rofl    It is still my favorite ride as GVs go.

Firefly: Gun has excellent mobility and can effectively blast aircraft out of the sky in the hands of a good shot.  Can kill Tigers in 1 shot at long range---Im personally a lil skeptikal to the historical accuracy of this, but such as it is in the game.

Panzer:  Good all around GV.

F4us 1D and 1C.... great ord package for GV whackin, lots of MG or 20mms, good speed, good in turn fights, decent range.

Hurr2c:  enough ord to kill GVs, 20mms, decent flight time, excellent slow speed turn fighter.

B25H:  ROFL  that 75mm HE cannon is wicked vs GVs.  I love flying over panzers and shooting them in their 6 and watching them explode from 1 shot!  Has plenty of bombs too.  I landed 12 kills once in 1 sortie using a combonation of the ords and 75mm cannon.

A20: plenty of ord for killin GVs, 8 50 cal MGs is plenty for soft skinned GVs and enemy aircraft.  The A20 with 50% fuel and no ord on board is a surprising oppenent in a dogfight in the right hands.

The AArch AAngelz is its own country, we owe loyalty only unto ourselves and those we fly with at the moment.---AAolds AArch AAngelz XO.

I love to GV and do Jabo missions vs GVs, get used to it.  Being good at one helps in the other.

F4U-4 For the fighter killing.

P47-D-25 for Fighter to fighter/ GV pounding.

JU-87-Stuka For the lovely CV sinking :D ( nothing works better than a rook stuka raid mission on anything ) :aok !

Yak-9U My overall favorite bird for Fighter to fighter, super fast, great turning ability, great diving, good gun package ( i'm a crack shot so yea ), and OK cockpit view.

I just hate P-38s. All P-38 pilots are witches and we should burn 'em.

I like the FM2...just not sure why.

JUGS for everything but base defense.  I use a Hurr2c for base defense.  I have been trying out new rides but always come back to the JUG.

Everything I've gotten kills with this tour:

1. F4U-1A (27): She's like a baby -4. My main ride
2. F4U-4 (14): Only reason I don't fly her more often is the perk cost
3. F4U-1C (13): I don't fly her often, and when I do it's as attack so I'm mostly going after ground targets. 9 of the kills came from one sortie (however I can and have done that with the 1A and 4). I just don't think the cannons really make up for the performance hit of the extra weight.
4. FM-2 (5): She's a good, highly-maneuverable ship. She just can't CATCH anything, and only having four guns makes her an assist queen.
5. F4U-1D (4): Like the Charlie I mostly fly her on attack sorties so I'm mostly strafing, egging and rocketing ground targets
6. B-25H (1)
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Normally, I fly the -1A almost exclusively for fighter to fighter, and the -1D almost exclusively for fighter to ground.  Only rarely do I usually fly other fighters, although one of my goals is to get at least comfortable with every plane in the plane set.

This TOD I've spent a lot of time in a Spit IX though, mostly because I've been flying with my son-in-law who's not up to flying the F4U's (nor really interested in them I think.)

I've come to really appreciate the IX.  She's a sweet ride and a great way to build perks.
