Flown by Lt. Werner Gerth.  This A8 had a field mixed "green" applied over the original camouflage of 74/75/76.

This is a work in progress.  Final wear/tear/smoke/stain/leak has not been applied.  I am interested in opinions on whether the wings would have had the green applied as well.

[edit] Oh yeah btw, July 1944.  Did I use the correct upper wing crosses?

That is kickazz. I love the IV/JG-3  190A-8 Sturmbocke's. I think they had the coolest looking 190s of the war.

Well Done

You asked for opinions, so I'll give mine. This is just my opinion, mind you.

You should tone down the cloud layer you use to weather the camo. It just makes it look splotchy. Well, if it was just applied in the field, it's not going to be splotchy. It would be weathered with stains, scuffs, and whatnot, but the color would be more consistent.

It's also hard to see exhaust stains against black, so I would suggest trying them with a shade of brown, or even light grey (darker paints react differently sometimes, it seems). It not 100% accurate, it helps to build the illusion better. Like tweaking the blending on your panel lines depending on what color you have under them, etc.

Definitely looks like an interesting skin!

P.S. Hrm.... They might have just had the white outline crosses....

EDIT: I've got a reference or two on 190A8s (profiles and decal sheets) showing just the late-style crosses, no black filling. One is from JG300 dated July 1944. Not concrete evidence, but supportive evidence.

I rekcon he's pretty spot on with the exhaust stains over the black...

I have a few images of this aircraft and they all display this same sort of stain.

Where did 11./JG3 operate out of in July '44? Just curious as to its area of operations.

Great job as usual Fencer, I like the overall green, nice change from the usual splinter camo. :aok
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

I recall, it was just a suggestion :aok

P.S. Xas, it's really hard to tell how the exhaust stains looked on black paint in a black and white photo
