Spit VIII Australian 1/48 scale model

Heres a 1/48 scale Spit VIII model I built for Henchman.Hes a real life friend who plays AH now.Its Based on a AH skin.It may not be exactly historicly accurate but gets the idea across.Was a fun plane to build.

hey, i started building models about 1-2 months ago (1:72 scale) can you tell me what company the model is from? thx

my model list to date (all unpainted atm):

f4f-3
f6f-3
p47-d (bubble canopy)
fw-190d9
bf-109g-10
Avro Lancaster (dam buster)
f4u-1
fm-2
spitfire mk v
la-5

most of them are from hobby boss, and the la-5 and lancaster are from revell, i was wondering if you could tell me a good company for an amature/average skill model builder ^_^

Revell/Monogram is good for starters, when you want to move up in detail, start looking at Tamiya and Hasegawa.

And learn to paint before assembly, then hit the details and weathering afterward, it makes things much simpler. :aok

The company that made that spit is Hasegawa.They make very good kits.I started with Hasegawa and Tamiya kits myself.I figure if your goin to take the time to build one it might as well be a good one.

I paint my cockpits first then put it all together.I clean it up mask the canopy then paint the exterior and detail it.

I've built mostly Hasegawa kits so far, all in 1/32. So far they include:

Ju 87 G2 (huge wingspan, absolute monster)
Bf 109 G10
Bf 109 K4
Spitfire Mk V
Fw 190 D9
Fw 190 A5
Me 262 A1
Me 163 (very old Hasegawa kit, good none the less)

I've found them to be good for the intermediate modeller (as I am, I'm no expert), they're cheap and easy to build.

They're a bit lacking on detail here and there, though.

I'm building a Revell Bf 109 K4 at the moment and I've not noticed a great deal of difference between the kits so far (I'd not be surprised if the kits were made by the same people at this stage).

I haven't gone to the same lengths with detail as Pipz, magnificent job on that Spitfire mate, it looks beautiful.

Xasthur you will have to post some pictures when you get a chance!!1/32 scale has been growing in popularity for some years now.They make some realy nice kits in that scale and the selection gets better every year.Its amazing how much bigger they get just goin from 1/48 to 1/32.Not long ago I thought about switching to 1/32 but I already have a number of kits in 1/48 and for me the 1/32 kits get a bit expensive.Maybe in the future.I believe Revell and Hasegawa use the same molds for theyre 1/48 109-G10/K-4 so its possible they are doing the same in 1/32.Its not unusual anymore for companys to buy molds from one another or even to share them and put them in each others boxes.

Sgt Pappy a clipped wing spit will be in the works.When I built this VIII there is parts and decals to build a cliped Spit IX.It even comes with decals for a XVI that we have in game"Lady Killer" is its name.I tried talking Henchman into that one but he wanted the Australian VIII.So now ill get to build "Lady Killer" for myself

i do 1:72 mostly because im poor, and i dont have much space.

at my hobby store, the hasegawa models are all 1:48, i was wondering if they had 1:72 also....

i also finished building a p-40e last night ^_^

Yeah, they have 1/72, but they're harder to find. Only ones I ever did were a P-38J and an FW-190. Good detail for such small models, but I don't usually work in anything smaller than 1/48.
