Actually, I think I found it.

I'm not sure how the ballistics compare to the MG/151.

FlaK38: 2x13.8 centimeter shell, 900M/S

If the WW's 20mm is reduced by the same factor as the range (as reported on that page) is for the Ostie, it should reach a little more than 2,250yards.  It'll probably disappear at the same standard range as the M16's 50cal, etc do.

yes Wingnutt people can actually hit planes from 3.0k out. does not happen every day but it happens more so at 2.5.

the WW will never get a kill that far out. it will make short work of towns and vulchers. to be effective on a tank kill with a WW you going to need to be at lest 1.5 i would say more like 1.0k at that you will prolly only track him from there.

You cant help but wonder with recent events that we'll eventually get the 88mm flak, possibly as a perk flak. The 88mm was such a mass produced and successful system it really belongs here.

Im really looking forward to putting the new 20mm thru its paces. It should be a useful weapon. I know one of the more impressive aspects of game play is when about 1/2 dozen guys who know what they are doing jump into Ostis and M16s to defend an airfield against a IB mission. Im not saying the GVs can do it alone but they can have a pretty big impact.

Bah!

Another anti aircraft gun I wont hardly be able to hit jack with.

In GVs I kill more planes with the main gun on my tank then I ever did in an AA gun LOL

Hmm will be a nice addition.. Not sure if it will really need to be perked though.
Might finally teach guys trying to take a base to make sure the VH is dead lol.

From the WW side of things trying to get to an NME field maybe people will actually take the ord down so the cons will have to attempt straifing incoming WW's..

Really there are ways around the WW if people are smart enough to use them. I think that they will force cap a lil higher off the field temporarilly untill VH is dead and a few bombs are droped on em then it will be back to the same old vulch untill peolpe arn't paying attention to the VH and it pops :rofl   I can see the scramble to kill it as 20 WW pop out blazing away at the 10 low vulchers lol.
From the ashes of the old we rise to fly again. Behold The Phoenix Wing!

Here's a visual comparison of the different shells.  The Ostwind's 37mm is on the far left and the Wirbelwind's 20mm is just to the right of that.  The other shells for reference are for the Hispano, MG 151/20, and .50 BMG respectively.

And the shell on the right is fired by the B25.  See the picture behind for reference.  See how it bursts into a large spray on contact with the ship.

This is a great picture.  The shell size difference is amazing... Hopefully the rate of fire makes up for this.

Thanks for the shell pic Pyro.  I never knew just how darn big that 37mm was.  No wonder planes go poof when you hit em!:t

Nice visual, Pyro. And nice old time Pepsi can...

Just have to ask -- is that in your office? And if so, do you build models in your (cue Alf voice "HA!") spare time?
