Conjecture.. Gotta have film for that sort of problem Bigplay, otherwise it's just anecdote.  Pyro once showed a complaint he'd got (or that was posted on the forums), about the same sort of problem as you're describing.

He posted the film, Pyro looked at it and posted screenshots which showed exactly where the rounds went.. And in fact there was nothing wrong.

Knowing what the gearing is for the current setup would be a good start.

Moot... The sortie with the Osti, was that the one with the round flying through it and it was "not" taking damage?

The sortie with the Ostie?  The anecdote with Pyro walking a player through his own film was with an M8 IIRC.  He was seeing "true" hit sprites and complaining they did no damage, or something like that.

Pfft . . you only got a #2.

You have a long way to go before you gain the coveted #4, let alone the glorious #5!

To the topic at hand, for authenticity it would be nice to have the extra gears, but in game terms I don't see how they would make a difference.  At best you might find an intermediate gear that lets you climb a hill a smidge faster, but that would be about it.

Ok real world comparison. I drive semi's for a living 6 gears v.s. 8 and the little extra speed on flat ground will not make much difference in the long run. However the 8 gears will allow you to pull a hill better, not necessarily faster, and let you go down a hill better, once again not necessarily faster. I'll take a 10 speed transmission everyday for almost anywhere i drive, however i would prefer an 18 speed in the mountains just for the extra brakeing, eng/transmission, it provides going down a hill. I would say the extra gears they threw in that tiger were more for use on the roadways and probably saw little to no use in normal combat conditions thus if it came right down to it i'd suspect that that version may actually have been slower than the other in actual combat conditions. Not sure why you'd need that many reverse speeds? Just my 2 cents.

Silly, it is so the Germans don't loose their perk points.  Retreating to the concrete just as fast as advancing to the spawn point to camp. :D

http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/tiger1.htm

I just found this info on the Tiger I.  It had a 8 speed transmission.  Our current tiger I in the game is only a 6 speed.  Is it a limitation of the game of only being able to have 6 or was it a mistake?  2nd, the tiger I is only capable of doing 23.6 mph (38 km/h).  The panzer IV was capable of doing 24.9 mph (40 km/h).  In the game these tanks are equal in speed.

Thanks AK for sharing the Tiger link - pretty interesting stuff!
