BMV, you don't have to post all these darned threads! Somebody here has a link to the trainer page, which tells you everything. Just bookmark that website and you have everything you need to know.

But, to answer your question, go from really high above your target, go down really fast, drop your bombs right above your target as you're heading straight downwards towards it, and pull up hard, but not hard enough to snap your wings.

I was curious about this topic also, pardon me for being a nooblet, but I don't find and Dive Bombing techniques on the Trainer site.  I see Level Bombing and Torpedo bombing, but no Dive Bombing.

Perhaps I'm simply not seeing it.

Eskimo if you had no help for him, why bother posting in the damn thread?

BMV here is what I do. I like to arrive over my target at 8 or 10K. I dive (throttle off and combat trim off) at close to a 45 degree angle and get lined up on my target. I have a couple different gunsights I use, depending on what I am flying.  I always set myself up so that I can get my bombs off no lower than 3K. This leaves me altitude to pull out and get clear of ACK. Also remember that the bombs must travel over 800 ft before they will arm. If you drop them lower than that they will not explode.

Watch your airspeed in the dive. Hogs and pony's I keep under 475 mph. P38's 450 or so. Plan your way into the target and always have your egress point picked out before you roll in.

There are a few gunsight choices out there, find one that works for you. Some have additional markings to aid in divebombing.

Best advice I can give you is find a gunsgight that works for you, and practice offline or in the TA until you are comfortable with it. It's much an art that requires practice.

I have no problems with you posting any questions in here btw... It is afterall the training forum.

cheers,
RTR

how about bombing gv's. I play mostly in the ava and it seems you have to be a lot lower just to see the red icon. Any ideas on how to pick out the target and keep it acquired in this case. Don't have any problems with field targets

My experience is that alot depends on what your pooter specs are. IE are you able to run the game smoothly and with decent graphics?

That being said, when I'm hunting GV's (which I don't regularly do) and I spot one I will try to keep it in view. Seems everytime I look "away" I lose the icon. You can set your view to ground however. Shift F4 is the command (you may have to map it). This will bring ground detail up at the expense of distance detail. Good for short range GV hunting.

That is kind of like telling someone looking for help on ACM this: "I go really fast and wiggle until I get on his 6 o'clock, then pull the trigger, then I pull up and wiggle some more."

Thanks for coming out.

As far as hunting GVs goes, I prefer a low approach. Get to about 200-3000ft AGL and go lookabout, when target acquired, fly over like you never saw it. Then dive/split S down and come in at 500ft (you must be fast to bomb this low, at least 300mph+). Head for target (lead a little if moving) when icon reads 600 yards, pickle. This should get it close and usually keeps the antiair GVs busy with the higher cons. :aok

For dive bombing structures, well there no Icon fro that . However for bombing GVs, you need to be within 1.5k for the icons to show :aok. The ones you need to be wary of are FLAK :devil.
