What is your toughest Air to Air kill?
« on: April 02, 2008, 10:31:16 AM »
I have found that the KI-84 is the tough aircraft in the plane set to kill A2A. What is your toughest kill?

There is not really a certain plane type which i find specifically tough.  It is the combinations that annoy me.

For instance, you look back and see a Hurricane/A6m and P-51/La7 chasing you down. Can't use energy on one and cant outturn the other :(
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

Yip.  Ki-84 is a tough kill, especially if the pilot knows how to use it's climb.  If I am flying into a furball I will target 84s first, then Las, then spit 16s.  They can all get higher really quickly.

I hate attacking B26s too.  They are tough and always shred me.

Just gotta pray one is a noob and test it out quick :)

N1K is problem for me as it will keep E very well and sticks to you for a long time, and all that time if you turn or climb you are dead. Did the N1K actually kept the E so well ?

Learn to aim for every targets weak spot, the wing tips.It doesnt matter what you are shooting at, ALWAYS aim for the wing tips. Not a single bird in this game is combatable after loosing its wing tip, some are better than others, but for the most part they just fly in circles like a lame duck. Wing tips..wing tips..wing tips.

Nothing else matters, not what you fly, and not what your target is.
If it has wings a engine and at least two gun's, you can make wing tiping a valuable option.

As far as any one plane giving me a problem, none.
I die because i allow the other pilot to use the planes abilitys to its advantage

If they go high, i go low, and meet them right back in the middle, they nose up and try to run away, i nose down and get more distance, the higher he climbs, the lower i go, just the more time it takes for him to DIVE back down on me.
Sometimes its fun to shakes a la7 off your p39's six.

Jets, everything else is a toss-up in plane size, agility, speed, durability, and pilot skill/soberness.

i really hope this doesn't sound stupid......but could you elaborate on the above please? why do you dive if he goes up? i assume this to mean that you'd go up if he tried to dive away? i'm just wondering if i've been missing something by not doing these things?

thanks!!

Sir, I am a little confused by your technique. Are you saying that you dive and extend to create space, like a split "S"? Or are you bleeding away your "E" after the merge, during a climb up to reengage? The latter not being a good option, unless you know the plane your flying is a better "E" fighter than the one you just merged with. Still leaving your opponent with the advantage of altitude. Please elaborate on your thoughts more...

Cheers :aok

Put me in the "Ki-84" camp. A well-flown Ki-84 is one of the most deadly opponents in the game.

However if you run into a Hog stick who knows how to work his flaps and E you're in for one hell of a beating.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.
