It's not like one needs to be dogfighting with Mustangs these days.

If you'd mod them by stretching the canvas on the wings, - well....a lot better.
BTW, just flew a 1960 model of a Jodel the other day.
Bloody thing will with it's mere 90 hp outperforms a Cessna 172, (with 2 passengers) with absolute ease. Absolutely an incredible little thing. And....stall at some 42 kts, and there are no flaps, just airbrakes!
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

And, since this thread was resurrected, what about Marcel Jurca's replicas? They're gorgeous!

Jurca, you mean? Nope, sorry..... I'm afraid you'll have to write them and ask how much does it cost to build one of those gorgeous replicas ;) Try google it, I bet you can find more. I discovered Mr. Jurca's work on a magazine, just checked their site.

MJ-80 (1:1 FW-190A replica):

http://www.wolf-hirth.de/ott07/de/news02.html

Unfortunately, it still seems to be out of action because of belly landing due to landing gear failure last year. :(

At ~3000kg flying weight it is much much lighter than the originals so even with *only* 1200hp it should be a lot of fun.
