If the movies have taught me anything, it's that this is obviously the work of an international syndicate who is killing 'random' people as part of a plot to divert attention from their upcoming heist of a well protected relic enroute to the museum.  Of course, when police think to map all the shooting locations, they'll find that it draws a Sumerian character that ties into an obscure cult.  The police captain won't believe the detective who finds this and will assign him to parking ticket duties or something because he's "crossed the line one too many times", but the detective will stake out the most likely next location based on the final part of the Sumerian symbol.  Because he's not there officially, he'll be helped by his spunky friend the electronic genius who will help him booby trap the intersection.  etc, etc, etc, the rest is pretty standard police fare, especially the high speed chase through the LA River system.

Amazing how so many of you can get alarmed over this, and then brag about how you carry a gun (illegally BTW) in your car. My solution? Make transport of a loaded, concealed weapon an automatic 10 years in prison.

Airhead, who brags about illegally carrying guns in our cars?  I see a lot of CCW holders on here.  Also, if the woman had been armed, perhaps she could have defended herself, we don't know how much notice she had yet.

The transport of a loaded concealed weapon without a permit is already a prison sentence, not sure how long the sentence is, howeverr the problem is that the current gun laws are not enforced enough. Too much plea bargaining goes on, and your jails are over capacity at this point.

The "san francisco" freeway shooting was on 80 in richmond. Richmond is a toejamhole. I would not willingly get off the freeway there.  Much worse then oakland.

It is difficult tho to compare in any reasonable way, the otherwise law abiding citizen who carries a gun (legally or otherwise) with the sole intent of self defense against what is an obviously criminal element and.. that of a criminal who carries a gun with the only intent of using it to kill or rob from others.

How do you sepperate the two?

You can't really because the law is bad.   

If a law abiding citizen in kalifornia goes to obtain a permit to carry a firearm for defense.. he is turned down.  If he wishes to defend himself and his family he must break the law.   The law creates criminals where none need be.

If the law was such that it were fair.. if getting a permit to carry was reasonable then it would be unreasonable to break the law.

I have to agree. California is so crime ridden with gangs and frequent shootings everywhere this probably isn't organized. How's that unconstitutional gun control working out for them there? About like DC I suspect.

That would be a simple solution, Airhead...It only has two problems.

1.) Being as an automobile is private property, It would be hard to get that one to stick, being as it smacks' as unconstitutional.

2.) Obviously, no matter how many laws' you get on the books, someone's not gonna give a rat's bellybutton about breakin' them. Those
     people are commonly referred to as 'criminals'. They have various motives' to break said laws, but it all boils down to just this:
     Any law, no matter how it's worded, where it's implemented, or how severe the penalty, is only words' on paper unless they are 
     ABIDED BY. However, statistics' show that criminals' do not abide by laws, they break them.

They used to have Freeway shooting's all the time. Still do. To tell the truth, this might be gang related, might not. The Girl in the story might have been a sister, cousin, neice, etc. of someone who was running in a gang. It might have been an initiation. Hard to tell at this point, they have to dig deeper into her background, as well as following any other clues.

BTW, the 110 runs' through some of the rough South-central LA neighborhoods. Whenever I have a job down there, I tuck my peice under the seat. That's Compton, Watts, Vernon, South Gate, and the Northern part of Long Beach, and a little bit of Inglewood. If you go down there, go smart, Having some insurance under the seat isn't gonna hurt.

It could be, if it was one of the large organizations' like MS 13. Testing their ability to work in conjuction in more than one city at once...?
