Yeah, why DO we have so many more gangbangers than those foreign countries?? They don't seem deterred by an armed populace.
Yeah - like the IRA in Ireland became an illegal organization...

... and the Ku Klux Klan became an illegal organization in the US.

Huh? The KKK is not illegal in the US. Nor is the neo-nazi party.

I say return the entire state to the vallejo family from whom the squatting gringos stole the land in the 18th and 19th centuries (and from whom I am descended).  california never had these problems when we owned it. we'll take it back and make things right again in short order.

The KKK was legislated out of existence by the 1871 Civil Rights Act. Same difference?

They aren't allowed to lynch anyone anymore but they are still alive. http://www.kkk.bz/

Even gang membership itself isn't illegal. Doing stuff that's illegal is illegal though.

Interesting point. The subject of this thread is that a recent spate of killings could be part of a gang initiation process. In other words, you have to commit an illegal act (ie murder) before you get to be a fully fledged member of a gang. Therefore by being a "made" gang member, it follows that you have indeed committed an illegal act, in which case gang membership is illegal, because in order to become a member, you have to have done something illegal. Sorry if i'm starting to sound like Holden McGroin here.

If a law abiding citizen in kalifornia goes to obtain a permit to carry a firearm for defense.. he is turned down.  If he wishes to defend himself and his family he must break the law.   The law creates criminals where none need be.

If the law was such that it were fair.. if getting a permit to carry was reasonable then it would be unreasonable to break the law.

simple stuff really.. most other states see it.

lazs

Perhaps if all states followed the 2nd Amendment which stated we have the "right to keep and bear arms" the issue of these stupid and illegal laws would be moot.

The transport of a loaded concealed weapon without a permit is already a prison sentence

Not in all states.

These gangs (like MS13) are the equivalent of domestic terrorism.

Killing people at random for no reason at all makes it that much easier to go kill a rival gang member on orders.

It seems that putting them in prison doesn't do much good as they continue to carry on gang operations there.

It's a real mess, and the law doesn't seem to have a handle on it any time soon.
