I've had people run from my P39q....how lame is that?

Out of ammo? Low on fuel? Headin back to base for other reasons? Looking for other targets, like buffs, gvs or goons? Heading to support an attack on another base? Some cons friendly to you arrived at higher altitude? Plenty of reasons possible... easy and cheap to cry "lame!"

Actually, it was an SBD but same thing.

I just didn't get it.  The SBD is actually a decent plane and at least one of the others was in an F4U. It would have ended up being a 3 on 1 and even if I beat them all they still die either way so obviously they weren't afraid to die (protecting score).

If you're not worried about the death then why not fight it out and learn something and take the chance on winning rather than the sure death?

Like I said, it didn't bother me.  My mission was accomplished by keeping the field clear of enemy's.  I flew back to base, re-fuled and went out and got some kills on guys that wanted to fight so nothing lost on my sortie.  I just found it curious.

BTW Max... that was funny!   :rofl

They were probably noobs that saw an La-7 and figured their chance of survival were slim to none and didn't want to be on the receiving end of the 24/7 verbal insults and bravado that plague the LW arenas ?

If you are my enemy, feel free to use the performance envelope of your plane.

I see your point, and I can think of an example right off. I fought an F4U-1 with my Yak9U and it degenerated into a deck T&B. He of course got on my six easy enough, so I broke and ran from him with the intent of extending enough to turn about and come back at him. It worked and I sheared off his wingtip in a head-on. I let it go at that because I was dangerously low on fuel, and decided to RTB. He still kept his Hog airborne, I <S>'d him, wishing him a safe landing. Was a fun fight! :aok

No, you know it happens way too often for it to be just those reasons.. And anyway, half the time, they turn around as soon as you're engaged and leave a big enough opening.

Sure, it doesn't happen not only for those reasons I picked. But people constantly cry things like "lame" just because they can. They just "believe" instead of knowing, rarely getting any facts in their way.

It's pretty boring cheap and lame all by itself. Almost everytime I have to break from a fight because Im low on fuel or simply a few more red cons appear on the scene and are dropping in, I read fancy insults about being a "lame runner" on Ch200.

Running from people I don't think is all that bad if you have a valid reason.  Sometimes I will have run out of cannon ammo in my K-4 and run back to base because I didn't have much firepower to kill another plane.  People should think about things such as this before calling someone a runner.

Perhaps. But perhaps there are time constraints. After you drop your bombs, there is no real point to keep going unless of course you need the points? Time maybe more important to them. They may be looking at getting a second wave as soon as possible, or launching the goons.

The three v 1 bail may have had nothing to do with the LA7. It might have more to do with the current situation and that time would be better spent upping from another base and making a different attack rather than participating in a 3 on 1 or continuing the one they started out on.

You just don't know. Can't take things personnally in this game or you might lose some of the enjoyment.

We've all had pilots bail out on us just to avoid a fight....

If they're so concerned over score and don't want you to get a kill, make these changes:

1.  You can't bail if your aircraft hasn't been damaged.
2.  Crashing without another player shooting you hurts your score more than if another player gets a kill.
