ARMY vs MARINES, which is better

A friend of mine is thinking about enlisting for collage tuition. Anyways we were debating which was better? I said the Marines because they're mindless and like to fight. The Army always arrives after the Marines. What do you think?

Tell your friend to apply to a finnish university afaik they accept also foreign students free of charge as long as you get pass the preliminary exams.

If he just wants to enlist for college tuition he should just join the army. The Marines are altogether a tougher proposition and more of a fighting unit.

I`ve seen some pretty big shoppers. Even seen one lady that needed a reverse horn, but I have never seen one big enough to skydive from.

I can see  both of you guys were in the boy scouts never in the Army of Marines. (1)Same MOS = same jobs a grunt is grunt.(2) Shows up first, I recall being in Baghdad before the Marines in 03   Now that I am  out I talk to my friends at work that are Marines same training  same dog and pony.  The big difference is when you sign will you join combat arms or will you be some non combat job that talk crap about the other services and has know idea  what it means to be in suck

Tell him to join the Coast Guard. Better opertunity to go to college while in the service and if the classes are related to his job in the Guard, the Guard will pick up most of the cost and that's before he uses the GI Bill. He could even apply for the CG Accedemy as an enlisted guy once he's been in a couple of years and have everything paid for. Seen a bunch of people do that. A large part of the CG officer corp are prior enlisted.

There was a big article a few years ago about the military actually paying the full college tuition amount.  To get the full amount (it used to be $49,000), you have to be in a very skilled or dangerous MOS.  See, the tuition payment amount varies by MOS.

I will attempt to answer the question the best I can.I joined the Marine Corps when I was 18.Back then the oppurtunities were limited,and few if any promises for enlisting were given.Recruiters streched the truth to get you to sign up....all branches!Today from what I can garner,the oppurtunites are great for enlisting,school money,bonuses for signing up,etc,but the Marine Corps still brings up the rear.If a person wanted the best oppurtunites,the Army would be the choice to make.The Marine Corps would be for those that like the challenge,and didn't care so much for schools,and such.Marines being mindless,and always first ahead of Army.Both are wrong.Many Marines are extemely intelligent,and being first,depends a lot on how the battleplan was put togather.The Marine Corps has a different mission,and comparing it to Army is difficult.Life in the military has changed a great deal since my time in the USMC.I watch programs on how they do things in boot camp,and to be honest,I just don't know they can get it done,given the methods they use.I'm sure the older Marines that came before me,said the same thing.I hope the information I gave is helpful.

If your friend is only enlisting to get money for college tell him to find another way. Scholarships are likely to be a far better bet for him. There have already been too many immature folks in all of the branches of service who never figured they would have to actually fight. If your friend has no real interest in serving then do him and all of the branches of the military a favor and advise him to stay the hell out. Other folks lives may depend on him and that's not fair to them at all.

MOS does NOT matter you will learn to use your weapon.

Not sure if the Army has the same approach?
