I send my son out to get into the car this morning (intending to be a few steps behind him), and hear gun shots from right outside our home. He runs back in & locks the door (smart kid).
I go outside & see the cop who lives across the street peel off in his car (I didn't know he was a cop until this morning when he turned the lights inside of his car on. I guess he's a new neighbor, since I don't recall ever having seen him before today, either).
Then later in the morning another son calls me to bring him something at his school. As I'm walking out of his school, I hear screaming and a ton of gun shots from the surrounding neighborhood.
Further down my street, there's another cop. He was shot outside of his home a few months back. When I googled it this morning, that news article that details that particular shooting has disappeared ~ and in it's place is a news article which appears to have replaced it, omitting entirely that he's a cop... and even changes the line of events.
And even now as I'm typing this I hear more sirens. When we moved into this neighborhood just a few short years ago, this was considered to be one of the "safer" parts of town. I am soooo ready to leave our neighborhood.
