I've gone from software testing, mainframe operator to overseeing system operations....and my latest assignment, Help Desk support has been the most fun. Rather than dealing with machines, patches, installations and the whole hardware aspect, I'm dealing with people. And while there are a few idiots here and there, I'm enjoying it. I'm getting to learn more systems we have here and enjoy turning a frantic call into a quick and easy fix.
The con is I'm learning more and more about the clinical side of hospital applications. I'm not an RN, a Phys. Assistant nor a Doctor...but I have to sit in on the same classes as they do about the latest programs to make their work easier. How they do what they do...well, bless em...I couldn't. Just the class on recording fluid intake and output was enough to make me queazy for an hour LOL
