Are the forum PM's not working? I know I lost all my old PM's when the forum had issues, but now I see "6 messages, 1 is new"

Yet I can't access any of them.

betty, you are not getting emails due to Yahoo.  They block email from the server traeting it like spam.  Even when they allow the email to go through, they may delay iot for up to a week.

Nothing we can do about that as they will not discuss the issue with us.

I'll delve into the PM issue, but not one should have been showing any PM's after I purged them out.  Odd.

Here's a strange thing- when I look up in the upper right corner, it tells me I have 12 messages, 0 are new.

I click on that to access the PM's, but there's a nice gray stripe that says "No messages..."

 :huh

More clues to the puzzle I guess.  Anything I can do to test for ya?

Just an FYI Skuzzy, I had a PM the other day that looks like I sent tom someone, they replied to it and I don't remember sending it...

Also:

I show 10 messages on the page header, but clicking there are no messages.

I have: logged out, cleared cookies, logged back in, and page refresh. It's no big deal to me I don't use PMs a lot, but thought I'd let you know of the bug.

As for another slight problem...I sent someone a PM, and it doesn't appear in my Outbox.

Sorry for the loss of the PM's to begin with.  Only bright spot is things look almost back to normal now.

Yes.  All are gone.  There was no way to salvage them with any accuracy as to what message actually belonged to a person.

Betty, Hotmail outright blocks email from the registration server.  If you need to use a free email account, the GMail is the only one that seems to still be working.  Howver, I figure that will get blocked soon as well as more people switch over to it.

Quite frankly, email notification from the bulletin board has hurt our business more than any one other feature we could have.  What happens is people leave the board, then they complain to thier email provider we are spamming them.  The provider then blocks email delivery.  So far, Yahoo, Hotmail, abd SBCGlobal to some degree is doing anything from delaying delivery to a spam fodler to blocking all email outright.

Nothing we can do about it as none of them will discuss the issue with us.

It never ceases to amaze me how Hotmail, Yahoo and other free email systems block what they consider spam even when it isn't. BUT...they are also one of the biggest spam producing groups out there and they refuse to do anything about it.

Hence why my servers refuse email from Hotmail and Yahoo. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. (I realize this is not a good solution for everyone)

Edit: My server responds to Hotmail this way...

554 Excessive spam received via Hotmail - We no longer accept mail from Hotmail addresses

If every server in the world started doing that, do you think Hotmail might decide to stop making their own rules and play nicely with everyone else?
