You guys with the penny anty stocks are crazy!  Have you checked the 3/6 month and 1 year charts on those?  They are a rollercoaster to H-E-double-hockey-sticks.  They go for 10 cents to nothing in a heart beat.

I gave up on most of my energy stocks and went with pharmiceuticals.  APPX is up 32% this morning alone.  Everytime I go to the pharmacy to get the 3,400 meds my doc has me on it reminds me that those $2 a pill companies are making a killing.

400 of APPX short (day trade) will make you a few bucks.

IBM is looking good today as well.

Price of oil is dropping.

Well with the pennies it's more about momentum trading and no investments or long term. Charts are useless with them but I always messed with the ones in the .0009 to .0001 range. No other stocks can you double your money faster but it does come at a much higher risk, hence the reason I'd never put more than $5k in that market at a time with that money spread out across several of them. (my personal rule of thumb is to never put more than $500 in a penny stock)

So do you want me to lower the limit or not?

BTW:  That virtual stock site is WAY TOO BLEEPING SLOW to buy/sell order.  I'm taking it in the shorts on some holdings because it can take up to 2 hours to make a transaction.

This is making me wonder what I could do on the real deal with real up to the minute quotes and buy/sell in 20 minutes or less.

It's a bear market and some of us are doing ok, considering.

Yeah the time lag is tough. Is there a way to view pending trades?

Click on My Portfolio, then on orders.  Orders is 2 over from holdings.  Each order will show Complete, Cancelled, Expired, Pending, or Cancel Pending.  Transactions (next to orders) only shows which orders actually went through.

No limits set on purchasing values now.

I signed up but haven't made a trade yet, but in real world, your trades don't always go through if you are selling at market price. Sometimes they take time for your turn to come up, maybe that's what the lag time in meant to replicate?

na no reason to change it being it's already started.. Might be fun to do a penny trade game one time though.

I haven't decided how I want to trade, this is just a month long game right?

28 days or so left.  Should say when you click on My Portfolio.

And it's already changed.

Ok I do see the lag time.. with this. I decided to go with a small gains day trade mentality and want to average $500 gain per day. I've tossed up two stocks at prices under the current market value but there is still a lag in the sales. I mean if the stock hit say 12.10 and I had a stop limit set @ 12.05 mine should have sold.

My guess is this must have at least a 15 to 20 min delay from real market stats.

I cashed out of my stocks just b4 the bell rang with a profit of $699.80 starting my first day in the game $200 over my daily target figure. I only used around $75k not the total $100 investing around $22k to $25k in each stock.

Stocks bought and sold..

Bought 2,000 NVDA (Nvidia) @ $12.00  sold at $12.06 (should have held out because it went to $12.20+)

Bought 975 MSFT (Microsoft) @ $25.58  and sold @ $26.00

Bought 5,000 F (Ford) @ $4.47 and sold @ $4.52

The market has been open for an hour and 2 of my trades still haven't gone through.  I have already lost $86 on one stock alone because of it.

The website is a joke.

Was there sufficient volume?  If there is not enough volume traded the transaction will not go through.  Once the volume is sufficient the trade will take place.

Does it really do that?  That's kind of cool if it does.

Just a few suggestions for your next game... Why have $9.95 trades when you could pretend you were using Choice Trade.. ( my real life broker) they offer $5.00 trades even on pennies which is why I use them but they are a very good broker. Which brings me to my other suggestion.. Why limit @ 0.10 on the trades?  If you are playing with $100k surely $5k could be set aside for the sub $.10 cent stocks.

Why pretend your using Choice trade and just pretend your using Zecco, $0 per trade...

Does it really do that?  That's kind of cool if it does.

I was wondering if they took real volume into account as well. I just read through the FAQ and there isn't much info about that, but I did see this:

Market Open Orders
All Market Open orders placed before the opening bell (9:30 a.m. EST) will be executed, based on the opening price, at or around 9:50 a.m. assuming there is sufficient Market Volume for the order. If there is insufficient volume for the order to be executed or an opening price has yet to be established (i.e. there is zero volume), we will attempt to complete the order every 20 minutes until the market closes. If the stock does not generate sufficient trading volume by the closing bell, the order will expire. Also, we will partially fill orders whenever possible (the remaining un-purchased shares will NOT be filled at a later time for Market Open orders).

So with that, it seems volume is taken into consideration but IMO there is no real way to be able to tell if your stocks would have sold in real life. IMHO I think the stock should have to move in price above your limit price and have enough volume. That way it would be a bit more accurate. I know when I was doing penny stocks it was amazing how much could be sold with out my orders going through.
