See...you are talking like 20 minutes. I can understand 20 minutes, the site says that's about right. Sounds fair.
I put in a sell order for APPX and it took almost 2 hours to execute--in the mean time I lost an additional $86 bucks.

Well did the stock hold at the price you tried to sell it at, did it go back down or higher? I never played any day trades on the big market because I never had the investment money for that kind of trading. I did do it with penny stocks, and I can tell you orders don't get filled or sold right away unless there is a lot of volume.
For every seller there has to be a buyer, just because you decide to sell doesn't mean there will be a buyer at that price and even if there is you have to wait in line for your turn. That's why I was saying the only way to make this realistic is if the stock price had to move 1 point above your selling price and have enough volume. In theory if the price moves over your stop limit your stock should sell. On the flip side if it tops out at the same price you have your stop limit set at then it's no guarantee the stock will sell. It works the same way on the buy side.
The 20 min delay for free charts is due to some rule from the NYSE, I build websites and back when I was doing active trading I was going to build a stock news site. I checked into a few of the chart providers to get a pricing on news update and chart feeds and they were all delayed by 15 mins because of the rule. Only way you could get live feeds was if you paid a subscription (I think $5 of it went directly to the NYSE).
Also good job on finding this game lasersailor it's funny because I hadn't logged into my real account in a very long time, now I already have the bug going again after one day..
I lost a bunch with penny's and just tossed all my money in oil in 06 and didn't even touch my account after that.. hehe but hey that worked out well, just wish I would have had more in there.
