I used to do paintball in the woods with a bunch of construction  worker dudes a few years ago. I moved and never did it after that, was kinda fun though and a good stress reliever.

If I was to do it again, I'd buy a pump gun or one of these.. http://rap4.com/paintball/Tiberius_Arms.html

Screw those full auto guns, use something that takes skill.

check out the q loader, 30BPS 500round pod  :D

You couldn't pay me to shoot a Tippmann. Yes, they're extremely durable. Yes, technology has closed the rate of fire gap... but they're still plastic pieces of junk to me. I'm a snob about it. I've owned pretty much every paintball gun worth owning. My Autococker was hand-made by Bud Orr himself.

Trading your Ion for an X-7... sorry... that's just stupid imho. You're trading down for no reason. I've played 26hr scenarios for over a decade. People "getting tactical" is synonymous with "I ate glue as a child".

I think you and I would have a lot of fun throwing paint together!

You know.  People too wrapped up in throwing more paint are often just attempting to cover other short fallings in their game.

When I was first starting tourney ball Angels were the end all be all of the marker world.  1500 bucks though!  Jeez, that was more than my car was worth!  But you know what?  A team from the NC hills would show up with mostly 'cockers, mags, and a few electronics and wipe the floor.  It isn't who throws more paint faster.  Tourny ball is all about movement.  Always has been and always will be.

Look up Carolina Ruckus in the old CFOA results.  That was when I was in high school.

Got to NC State and the college team all laughed when I tried out with that white body minimag.  I was team captain after destroying 8 of them in 1v1 after 1v1 with them having all electronics.

They learned a lot more about teamwork, movement, and communication that year; by everyone not constantly going to more expensive gear with the sponorship money we went to 5 more tournies that year.

I'm actually retired from actively throwing paint. I've already done everything worth doing. :( Now, I help write 1 event per year that's an underground, invitation only scenario event for the extremely hardcore players...

...and build toys.  :devil

Original version with "face melting" technology.

Current version with target motion prediction.

I have some pretty nasty stuff coming along... Night time "terror toys". Semi-Autonomous UAV coverage... Land-warrior systems... a fully integrated base defense network based on those motion sensing turrets and some other sensors....

I'm half expecting DHS to show up on my doorstep.

Cool stuff.  I played woodsball and a few scenarios.  The ease of people getting away with cheating turned me off.  Hard to say you weren't hit when I come over the top and smack your noggin with some paint :D

I would love to hear more about this setup you have!

I have a Tippmann A-5 Response and i have to say, the Response trigger is a very nice trigger. yea it kinda does go through air fast but it can shoot 15bps and you don't need to worry about batteries! Tippmanns are the most durible markers on the market. Last time we went someone rolled over a A-5 with there pickup truck and it still worked fine. zoozoo i am a Brigade Member add me if u want. sn is just Selino

<--- Also if your looking at Tactical vest i highly recommend the Special Ops Scout Vest. I own one, it is light, breathable, can hold anything u could possibly need and it is resonably cheap. also it has a pouch in the inside of it for a water bladder so u don't dehydrate but it doesnt come with a camelpack lol. :rock

every time i see someone wearing one of these i chuckle a little bit. PB is supposed to hurt, these things are just expensive safety nets.

A pack that carried 4-8 pods depending on the position I was playing, light but baggy black pants, and a jersey (or just a tshirt for rec play) was about it.  Simplicity.

Nice gun zoozoo. I agree Sell that thing and get a new gun. Anything above 25 BPS is just a waste of paint. I have a Tippmann A5 with Responce Trigger and I put a stock on it. In you video it looks like you're using No2, is that right? If so what are you using? 3000 PSI or 5000 PSI? I have 3 20 oz Co2 tanks, and a cheap 9 oz Co2 tank that won't fill all the way (WTG Walmart!) and a 3000 PSI No2 tank. I hope to get a 5000 PSI No2 tank in the future since I can only get 500 shots with the current one I have.

Zoozoo, don't sell the gun. You'd be trading down for absolutely no reason. I'll gladly play the credentials game with anybody on the forum for who's opinion has the most weight. Now for some more generic advice...

Whatever you do, don't follow the Spec Ops crowd. As a playing entity, they've failed horribly in the face of real opposition. 26 hours of Camp Blanding with Spec Ops having nearly a 2:1 numbers advantage saw them not even able to leave their base, let alone make it into the city. Their adherence to self-written doctrine that's really just a marketing tool handicaps them horribly. They were thoroughly trounced by Smart Corps using the Thunderstruck command blueprint... which, incidentally, is available at the www.worldoftb.com .... which is run by Lawrence "TB" Wright, considered by many the top scenario player in the world  (including me, but I'm biased, he's a friend). He plays for Thunderstruck, which is considered by many the top scenario team in the world. Want to guess what super-tactical guns they use? :) Ions with Epiphany internals.  :aok

The tac vests aren't bad. Lots of storage, nice ones accept camelbaks, radios, have badge slots, etc.... but they're not necessary. A fanny pack does everything they do except carry a camelbak, they're lighter, and they perform double duty by protecting your testicles. My Redz 4+3, fanny pack, and camelbak have seen 750 or so hours of play in all weather... 117 degrees outdoors (Drop Zone, KS), 110 indoors (book depository, Ft. Worth), down to well below freezing with rain and knee deep mud all over (thank you Lafayette...)

and Bongaroo, you played the wrong scenarios it sounds like :( You gotta hit the promoters with good track records like Wayne Dollack or Viper. Yeah, I've sat there and stared through some PVS-7 nvg and watch guys not call themselves out, but the frequency is far less. You get a lot more stand up play, and especially in the South, some incredibly tough teams that while they'd probably suck on a tournament field, will absolutely dominate you for an entire event on a scenario field. I'll get you a pm though on some of my toys too :)

Don't get me wrong, I've played in Scenarios that were well run and well policed.  I'd still just rather play speedball.

Indy, where im living in NY right now is probably the worst place for a tournament player, there arent many tournaments around at all and the team isnt always around. I really cant afford all the maintnence, repairs and 70$ for one box of paint which is only 2000 paintballs for a gun that shoots around 30BPS. for this gun. I really need something sturdy like an X7. Since im getting my brother into higher quality guns im buying TWO X7's. You can see you can add alot of upgrades to it. So basicly it is a project for him, im basicly giving each of us an allowence when my gun is sold for upgrades on our X7's.

For anyone interested, i am taking offers and almost have an in depth video ready.

You know there's settings on your gun to turn down the ROF... right?  :huh

Such a waste.

If you're that obsessed with "going tactical", then I'd still skip the Tippmann. Get an SP-1. The price is low, and from what I understand, it's basically an ION in a new body. Your Freak barrel kit and other gadgets would work just fine on it.
