Its a non issue, Russian troops are in Gori. Dont feed the troll. And ban his arse again, hes only here to try to get people angry. Really Skuzzy what are you waiting for.

While I find their postings to be mostly devoid of real facts, I don't think campaigning for them (Russian and Boroda) to be banned is really necessary. I may not agree with how Skuzzy moderates the board sometimes, but it's his job and not mine. Possibly some of Boroda's posts cross the line Skuzzy drew about threats and such between countries, but it's his (Skuzzy's) call.

Are the Georgians supposed to just lay down their weapons and do nothing while the Russian units over run their country?

What else should they do after peacekeeping forces with little "MC" blue tag got run-over and killed. If 6 peace points are not signed, georgia will try this again and again.

Same as you really, Toad must be smoking some good poop or he cannot tell whos who on this BB. And btw, i think Nielsen supported your Iraq invasion.

Maniac, you and Dowding are not, unfortunately, in the majority of non-US posters in this thread.

I think both of you see it fairly clearly but there are others with whom even you are arguing.

Who started it is still in dispute. Russia claims Georgia attacked without provocation. Georgia claims they were fired upon (and some of their villages were shelled) by Osset separatists and they simply returned fire.

If all Russia was concerned with was protecting the Ossets and the Russian peace keepers they would have stopped at the border of South Ossetia.

If the Russian peace keepers simply got caught in the crossfire of these two factions maybe they should have moved out of the way and let them fight it out.

According to Russian sources, they did just that. But Georgian forces counter-attacked and continued to shell city.

The Russian peace keepers moved? If that's what you meant, then they obviously didn't move far enough.

If Georgian forces counter-attacked....that means they were attacked first?

Georgian pushed into capital but couldn't get through. They shelled city and attacked it again. By than 58th came to assist Osetians. At night Georgian forces shelled city (commander of 58th wounded) and attacked it again.

Wonder how much of this action by the Russians is also a message to Pres Bush; No missiles near us!

Putin pretty much told US today; Russia or Georgia make your choice.

Wonder if the report in that Vid that Russian troops are about 12 miles from the capital of Georgia is true? If so.....it sure looks like more than just helping its citizens.

I'm going to guess and say that maybe forward recon units got there. But that should give a good message to Lap-Dog that he has to accept full 6 points, and not 5.

Hi Boroda! I posted this on another forum, but this is my comment:

Quote
If the Russians prepared for this, then they received their warning loud and clear from Saakashvili. With his long history of Western "shmoozing", it's not surprising Russia might've been a little wary or irritated with Saakashvili in an area that amounts to their 'Latin America', for lack of a better term. I doubt the Russians expected the Georgian president to actually attack South Ossetia. That would require an extreme disconnect from the political realities of the region. But, truth is stranger than fiction at times. We all make our own beds, and now Saakashvili can learn this lesson as well, though at cost in others lives and property. What I would like to know is what was Saakashvili thinking when he made his decision to attack South Ossetia? You invade a disputed territory of long history in a region of extreme importance to a powerful nation like Russia, knowing Russian peace-keepers will likely be hurt in the offensive, and expect ... what? The man's mind was obviously somewhere else.

Western reporting has been somewhat disturbing. Some reports are balanced, but others tow the typical Cold War West viewpoint. There is almost no news of the tens of thousands of Ossetian refugees that streamed into Russia, nor of the destruction and death wrought by invading Georgian forces in Tskhinvali. Incredibly, CNN reported on 'a Russian attack at Gori' using footage lifted from a Russian film crew. What's incredible is that the footage was actually of Tskhinvali after the Georgians attacked South Ossetia. When the Russian cameraman found out about this he was naturally furious and reported it.

Btw, I heard Arshavin is on strike and wants out of Zenit now. Will be interesting to see where he ends up. Poka!

Forward recon units are 40 vehicles strong with heavily armed infantry on every one?

Tens of thousands??  CNN lifted footage, didn't credit it and mis-identified it?  Riiiiiight.

Links please.

They won't provide links for that because they can't. Sorta like Boroda's claims about Turkey backing them, he provided a link, in Russian, but failed to realize we could read it in English as well. The whole Turkey thing didn't pan out so well for him.
