You don't understand the concept of weight, do you?
Depth charges, rockets, and large caliber machine guns are very heavy. Far too heavy for early helicopters.

Darn.. I read the post, therefore I must reply.

I will agree ( not that my approval, by any means, carries any weight ) to helicopters after all of the following conditions are satisfied:

Every aircraft that saw more combat than the helicopter has been included into the game, plus at least one rebuild for each new addition from now.

Every ground vehicle that served in a combat area more so than the helicopter has been introduced into the game.

Every geographical area where combat was experienced is represented by a practical and useful map.

Naval craft are expanded to include strategic importance and supply features.

Certain arenas contain comprehensive and manageable strat and supply systems that can be attacked, defended, and resupplied.

Skuzzy experiences a 3 month period where no threads need to be locked, no PNGs are necessary to be administered, and Microsoft releases an efficient OS to replace Vista.

Then.. and only after all those conditions are met, will I think that adding helicopters is something that needs to be done.

Amen.

Before posting rude and un-nice comments hear me out....IN the years 1943 the helicopter was put through final test at military bases and through 1944-1945 it was used by special-ops mostly in the pacific campaign but yes it was used i think it had a 50 cal. in front and could sit 4 people including pilot also i think it could have a rocket on each side cant remember but for real it did exist trust me is would be awesome....it was called the sikorsky R-5 it might of been known as a rescue heli yes. but the special -ops made a version for combat too i am going to post a link but it only shows the navy rescue not the army fighter one http://www.military.cz/usa/air/war/helo/r5/r5_en.htm

Did you even read the article or any other article about the Sikorsky R-5/H-5?  It never saw any action in any combat theater during the war.  The USAAF didn't take first delivery of the YR-5 until February of 1945 and it didn't enter into operational status until 1947.  it wasn't outfitted with guns or rockets.  It was never used as a gunship, however for SAR missions, the copilot and crew chief regularly carried personal weapons if they had to exit the craft to pick up downed airmen.

I think you are confusing the R-5/H-5 with the R-4/H-4, which did see limited duty in the CBI theater of operations and served with the 1st Air Commando Group.  The R-4/H-4 was the only US helicopter to see operational duty during World War II and its most famous flight was in 1944 when it was used in Burma to pick up some wounded soldiers behind Japanese lines.

Honestly, if you are going to suggest an aircraft for the game, at least spend some time researching the aircraft to ensure they are relevant to the game.
