now i look at it closer i think  you may be right
those tracks look too wide and it looks like a vietnam era photo

i think its an m19 just updated a little

in the posted photo the shadows show it is close to midday at the time of the photo which shows that the guns dont protrude past the front of the hull so it a rear mount and the frontal amour is of a m19
but in saying that the turret looks slightly different, the tracks are the same as a m42 and a cant see a spider web gunsight anywhere

IMO i think its a m19 updated for korea cause thephoto quality is too good for ww2 but i dont think m19 where used in vietnam

Lets take your picture......

1. Check the Black guy's boots - they are Jungle Boots. That and the connex boxes in the background make this a Vietnam era photograph. Neither was in use during the Korean War.

2.  Though the two vehicles are the similar - there is a major difference in the two. The M19 GMC is based on the M24 Chaffee Light tank while the M42 Duster is based on the M41 Walker Bulldog Light tank. The M19 was a major modification to the design of the tank with the turret moved toward the rear while the M42's turret was designed to sit right in the original turret ring of the M41 tank and was pretty much as original.

3.  In your photo above if you will look above each fender at the oval opening with the pipe sticking out - this is the exhaust for the vehicle. Very prominent on the M42 Duster. Your photo shows the rear of each vehicle with the turret turned to the rear. Most likely for travel. Also note the arm projection on the left side of the turret - another prominent feature of the M42 Duster - not seen on the M19.
