Caught the last 10 mins on the way home from work.  Inspiring.  I'm going to give these 2 my vote and see if elected how close they match their deeds to their words.

I'm hoping they do very well.

He did a great job. Great man.

And I have to tell ya...looking at his wife and his VP pick makes me think impure thoughts. Just had to get that out there.

Personally while i think his wife is hot.
During her speech she acted as though she were stoned. She delivered it. But she seemed kinda spaced out.
she reminded me of a girl I once knew when I was a teenager. Acted the exact same way.

These speeches, no matter who they are from are crafted, scripted, and practiced. You can only get a certain amount of honesty or reality from them. They are simply convention speeches delivered in front of their own mindset crowd. I call them , from both sides, false positives.

The real meat will come when they aren't just in front of their own giving their own applause, have to answer questions unscripted and with no coaching. IMO these speeches are really only worthy to rev up their own party. Anyone who thinks these speeches will live on after they are elected is a bit naive.

I want them on stage in a face to face debate before I make any real judgment.

Much indeed to be regretted, party disputes are now carried to such a length, and truth is so enveloped in mist and false representation, that it is extremely difficult to know through what channel to seek it. This difficulty to one, who is of no party, and whose sole wish is to pursue with undeviating steps a path which would lead this country to respectability, wealth, and happiness, is exceedingly to be lamented. But such, for wise purposes, it is presumed, is the turbulence of human passions in party disputes, when victory more than truth is the palm contended for.

It was a great speech. Better than Palin's in my book. It didn't have the flash her's did, but it had much more substance.
I've always liked McCain. He's bipartisan and gets things done.

The biggest mistake this country ever made was when it bought Karl Rove's attack on McCain during the 2000 election.
I would have much prefered he was in charge on 9/11 instead of Bush.

Is this the main reason why Karl Rove is not liked?

You're right Rpm, McCain's speech did have more substance than Palin's did. I kinda expect that the presidential nominee would have more *meat* in his speech than the VP nominee though.

As far as the substance in his speech, can't say I disliked any of it.

I thought McCain did pretty good considering he doesn't do well in front of large audiences.  I was very impressed on how he shared some of his experiences during Viet Nam.  "My Country saved me."  almost had my wife in tears.  And another point I liked was when he said ".....and I have the scars to prove it."  Perfect!  That one sentence nailed it for me.

Go Mac!

I enjoyed both Palin and J-Mac's speeches. I think it's just what many needed to hear. The die hard libs will continue to sick their media attack dogs on both of them, but, I think there will be no backing down from this pair.

Cindy McCain's is a beautiful lady but she almost put me to sleep.

he did a really good job delivering a home run speech...

As dred points out.. it is just a speech and...  like osamabinbiden promising us all free health care and no taxes and the rich will pay for everything... speeches are just speeches.

The difference is.. no matter what.. the republican candidates looked and came off like real people.   that is a huge difference.  They looked like someone you might actually have a conversation with.

as for the promises..  the one that Palin made for them was the one I hope that they keep.. she said that as someone who has governed.. she learned the power of the veto.. she said that John Mccain knows of the power of the veto and is not afraid to use it.

I hope to god that is the case.   That can change everything..  real change.. no matter who controls the house.

I'd like to believe he can get done what he claims he wants to. But with a Democrat controlled congress who wont be happy if they loose another election.
Im not so sure how co operative they will be no matter how left leaning a Rep pres would be.

the dems can work with him or not, there choice. but failure to do so will result in the majority shifting sides again mid-term.
