1v1s in the MA
« on: September 05, 2008, 03:30:33 PM »
I know it rarely happens but i know you probably remember some of your best 1v1s in the Main Arena. These aremy personal favorites :rock

Adonai(109G-6) vs JunkyII(Ki-61) I had been chasing Adonai around Tank Town all day, I almost got a pick when he noticed me closing on his six and he reversed back. I called off allthe friendlys around me and it seemed like he did too. I was still pretty newb when it came to ACM at the time and he made me end up stalling out in a vertical fight, he PW me and i bailed due to other enemy starting to engage. I learned that throttle control helps with turning a ton, all about how you want to make your nose go.

Yenny(109K-4) vs JunkyII(Ki-61) This was pure 1v1 when I went bi for a bit, oops I mean bish :D Co-Alt Co-E, we started looping over and I ended up getting alil bit of gun on him and shot off something essential so it was just a matter of time. This fight made me think maybe the Ki can climb with the 109s under 5-8k.

Teflonn(F4U-1) vs JunkyII(Ki-61) Great Fight. I was picking at him but he was reversing really well, he actually had my six for a bit but I started to spiral climb which worked like a charm. He became target fixated and lost alot of E. I rudder turn back on him and got his six, acouple of those cowl cannons will knock down any plane fast :D

Joker2(F4U-1A) vs JunkyII(Ki-61) This fight I had to work Joker over for by taunting him on 200(Joker i think 200 is your weakness hehe).I started out above him and came down throttled back looking for good shot. Of course I over shoot and we get to turning. I try to use the same tactic I used against Teflonn which was working but Joker nosed down alil faster, I was going too slow and had not enough flaps out and went into a stall below 1000ft. I barely got out and my SA went to hell, I had no clue where he was till it was too late. I didnt try to run but i did try getting the over shoot by doing something I call "Waving my Rudder"Pretty much i just rudder and slight turn alil to slow me down a ton a try to get lucky, from behind you can see my rudder going pretty crazy :)

DaveyJ(P-38L) vs JunkyII(La-5FN) This was just a good fight with a good friend. I won due to a mistake by Davey which seemed like he wasnt throttled up, but we ended up looping with me being the victor after i got my flaps down :)

Share some of your fights or give info on tactics you can use 1v1plz :pray

Had a good 1vs1 with Tex01 once. I was in a Yak-9U I think he was in an F4F, and after a grueling 5 min TnB fight, I managed to get a shot on him. He got a few good shots on me too.

Hmm lets see.... I think it was me in a Spit 9 vs. 1 F4U-4, 1 Spit 16 and 1 Jug. All started out picking me ( I was low and slow) and ended up dragging all 3 down.
No one knows what the future may bring.

Have had too many to remember all but my most recent was about six months ago. I had been flying long range high alt patrol in a group of five mustangs and broke off to engage a very high 109k4. Keeping the pony fast but nimble i was able to evade numerous attacks and give return fire on the reversal but niether of us did any damage.I sensed my opponent reacting to each evasive i pulled and trying a new angle or approach the next time yet he was reluctant to engage in a full on turn fight and was thus relatively easy to dodge untill suddenly he curled up his feathers and started to match my speed. We twisted and turned in a long fight as i slowly nicked 10mph off his advantage every minute.
When at last we were equal he really started showing his skills, i had underestimated this 109 and the early BnZ was just him testing me. We slowed right down and got into a tight rolling scissors each taking hits but no dagame untill the 50cals raked his engine and holed his radiator. We turned a few more revolutions as i desperately flung that pony around to avoid his taters.
Finally after what must have been a ten minute fight i slipped up just once, the slightest mistake which so far i had avoided almost to perfection. I dropped out of my roll and leveled off on the water with the 109 smartly rolling out of his turn at about 300 yrds and knew i was dead. Good fight i thought, why didnt i keep my speed on that last roll, damn. Then he is falling back to 400, then 450 and trhowing taters like mad at me. He stops shooting at about 500 and I remember the radiator. He sits it down on thewater with no engine and i do a victory roll and fly off home. He towers out and i dont get the credit. But we spoke after and im sure Bruv remembers that fight, and how lucky i was to get away at the end. S!

Been a lot of fights that got my adreniline going good...but the best ones I have had most recently (this year I guess) was with JanneK in his 109 and me in the Jug. He beats me 9 out of 10 times and sometimes I think he just toys with me until he tires...but no matter....he is by far one of the best fights I have almost everytime we meet.

BatfinkV in the DA.....he lets me win 1 or 2 just so I don't ruin a keyboard or break my joystick.

LilMak in a Jug vs Jug fight.

TwinBoom a couple of times.

MtnMan in his damn slow flying frikin F4U. (he ought to be perked in that)

SlapShot in the SpitV before it was nutered. Levi as well.

BluKitty in that jug.....Had a great fight one time that lasted what seemed like hours....only to die yet again.

All the fights I remember I die in....Hmmmmmmmm :uhoh

I would say my most memorable ones have been in the last few weeks.

All were me in Spit9 vs

mtnman in his f4u and in same night redhawk in his niki (both great fights that had me working my tail off and lost both times) the great thing was that they were with in a few minutes of each other.

patches in his f4u1 we had several fights that night 1vs1 of course after about second one we started to coordinate our 1vs1's and had a blast for an hour or two. I should also note that I also had 2 great fights with semperac in between a couple of the fights with patches. Semperac is an ex-squaddie of mine and I told you Semp that it would be some awesome fights if we ever fought each other. the end result of these fights was me vs patches 3-3 and me (2) vs Semp (0) but long lasting and low and very slow fights

rud3boi in KI61 man that also was a fun fight and man he flew that ki well. fight lasted several minutes ended in a win for me but was hard fought

I have had several other 1vs1's in the MA's that were long lasting and had me on the edge of my seat holding my breath in my time in the AH.The thing is it so many that it is hard to remember them all. I usually remember the ones that I film and happened fairly recently. <salute> to all those that I have neglected to mention this is not mean to diminish how good those fights were, my memory is just too bad to remember them all.

1vs1's are not that uncommon if you put a little effort into finding them.

While I am at it though 18whisky I must appoligize for not being a little more friendly after our little series of 1vs1's. I would normally have chatted a little after such a series even after losing every time like I did that night. Between being very tired and just starting to get used to the Yak9U I was getting a little frustrated and feeling less than chatty.

A big <S> to all those that strive to create and keep the fights fun and not about getting kills.

Haxxor has returned!!!!

Sometimes, I really dont like the set up fights just because honestly when in WW2 did those ever happen, also i start thinking way to hard about the different moves instead of thinking about getting on the planes six

BTW, I do have a film of that fight, if you want to see it.  I could email it to you, or post it...

It's mostly me doing frantic dodges, hehe, and occasionally pinging you a bit.

I don't think I was quite as slow as you thought though...
