What ever happened to being neighborly? What ever happened to volunteering to help someone in need?

There is nothing wrong with that thought, but the Government should NOT force me to be neighborly and help someone in need if I don't want to, and taking my hard earned money and throwing it into some wellfare program, they are forcing me.

How are they forcing me? Because if I don't pay those taxes with the money I worked hard for I get punished, not the lazy SOB sitting on their couch in a government funded HUD home that's doing nothing but punching out as many kids as they can to get more of my hard earned money from the government.

You want to be neighborly and help those people out, feel free to do so with YOUR money, but stop demanding that I pay "my fair share" for a solution I don't agree with.

You were overpaid in the first place.

That says it all in why you have no credability. A person works for a living has much of it confiscated by the government and he is over paid.

A person that could be out working making a living and contributing to our society, and instead lives off the public teet is a victim.

Then move.

Why should I move? I was born here. I'm an American citizen that has fought for this country, and served my country for 20 years. I work my butt off to EARN what I have, so tell me again why I should be REQUIRED to pay for some lazy POS to sit on their butts doing nothing?

Laugh all you want...show me where some child has died in the U.S from starvation...come on,
one newspaper article, anything, show me one child that has died because of starvation..prove me wrong!!

Starving, is starving, mal-nurished, or better yet, hungry.  To answer your quesion more thoroughly, stop welfare tomorrow and within 1 month there would be civil unrest or a massive epidemic of starvation.

or maybe...  should I do everything in my power to make sure that before someone becomes a parent that they have the skills and resources to at least make a fair shot at raising that kid instead of just telling them "congrats.. you won the baby lotto.. sit home and enjoy and reel in the "free" stuff."

many are using babies as a way to get out of the crap welfare house they were raised in.

You liberal socialists are creating the problem and you want me to somehow clean it up without hurting anyones feelings.

you are the merchants of misery and should be flogged.

lazs
I am saying that your staunch republican stance on every issue makes you sound like a Nazi.  "F everyone if they aren't just like me."  Well, there are going to be a certain percent of the population that will never be able to be normal, work normal, or for that matte, act normal, and they will probably end up being a parent that can't take care of their child properly.  So, you think because that person isn't able to be normal, their child should just die?  wouldn't that be abortion by indifference?

Hmmm....Skyrock, I would add that they will fight, steal, or burn-down and loot before they let themselves' starve. (Think Rodney King riots' here...)

For a lot of you guys' arguing this, I would say that for better or for worse, the U.S. will more than likely have a socialist component for the rest of it's existence in it's current form, due to it's ever-increasing population and the almost constant flux of it's key/core industries' and other sources of employment.

Cmon you know that's not the real problem here.  The problem is welfare mismanagement, and mismanagement in every other bloated govt agency.  That's where the taxpayer funds are wasted - where the leaks are that must be plugged.  It's obvious to any guy with average IQ and a minimum of education (homemade or public alike, duh) that someone who's completely helpless ought to deserve help.  That's the minimum humane thing to do.  Just like those condemned to death get their death injection with sterilized needles... The threshold is between people who can't help themselves and people who can.  So the next question is who is "helpless"?  Having all but the willpower to get your bellybutton up and into a job and earning some masking cash like you deserve to after a good hard day at work.. that's already a good starting point for defining the difference between helpless and not.  That's where the debate ought to be happening.... Not some bullpoop sounbyte about "lipstick on pigs", or 300k$ prospective first lady acceptance-speech-ceremony oufits, or skin color, or similarity between one's name and Osama bin Laden's.
