Why on earth would you take photos of your computer screen like that? And why on earth did you dump that pretty girl..?  :huh :D

Well i took pics of the screen because they would show you the pic and then ask if you wanted to buy it for a gajillion dollors, so i just asked them to show it to me again and took pictures of them with my camera.

As for the girl, well I moved away to college and she became really sweetyy

I'm looking forward to the movie.  I've seen all the others.

Now to get all supa geeky....

The original series was pretty good for the most part, a few episodes were horrible though, but overall I like it... but its really hard to compare it to all the other series.  Even considering the movies, the original series and Star Trek in general would not have near the popularity it enjoys to this day if it weren't for The Next Generation.  Shatner and company owe a lot to the Enterprise-D.

But.... TNG had some real, real bad episodes.  Particularly in Seasons 1-4.  The first four seasons were a crapshoot, with some really good episodes mixed with a lot of mediocrity mixed with some really bad episodes.  Only in the last three seasons did the show get consistently good, particularly with the Klingon succession, Worf, Data, and Borg storylines.

But overall I liked Deep Space Nine the best.  Compared to TNG, I thought DSN was much more consistently good.  (Plus it happens to have my favorite all-time Star Trek episode of any series, but that's another story.)  TNG had a bit higher highs, but much lower lows, leaving DSN as the overall winner.  Other than O'Brian's wife and Sisko's girlfriend, I liked every single character on the show, which I can't say about any of the other series (other than TOS I suppose).  For every flaw the series had, and they are many, I could counter with a TNG flaw that is twice as bad, and TNG is the only ST series that is even close to as good.

In particular, I thought the Story of Worf was excellent.  Worf's development as a, well, humanoid, is practically unparalleled on any show on TV.  One day I plan on figuring out all the episodes from TNG and DSN that are "Worf" episodes and watching them in long marathon of Worfy goodness, lol.

Voyager... well that series was OK.  A lot to dislike, and some to like, in it.  I agree that it was time for a female captain, but Janeway shouldn't have been it.  I'm only surprised they didn't actually have her cry on the screen when someone "disappointed" her.  The stupid "morale" officer whose name I've mentally blocked needed to be airlocked in the second episode.  The rest of the crew was good but not great.  Seven was an obvious, desperate move for ratings... but strangely it was a good move.  She added some needed eyecandy and better yet, and the actress actually did a real good job of staying in character, and in a way saved the series.

The worst thing about Voyager was that they almost blew the ship up every damn episode, escaping by 0.296% each time, long enough to repair and get underway again next week.  Gimme a break people, the whole idea of a disaster not happening is backups for your backups, not relying on rolling the hard six every time.  It just got unbelievable after a while.  Once they really got to the Borg ending of the series, it was at its best.  But its not near as good as TNG or DSN.

Enterprise is sub-par.  I've only bothered to watch maybe 10-15 episodes, whereas I've seen every episode of the other series, most of them multiple times.  Again, Archer sucks.  I knew he would suck before I even watched one episode, just based on Quantum Leap.  Not a lot to say other than it would have been better if the Enterprise series was never done.

Back to the Captain thing... Kirk was a great captain.  Picard was a great captain, I would argue the best.  Sisko was a so so commander that eventually became a great captain.  Spock, Riker and Sulu even had the right stuff the couple times they were shown in the captain's chair.  But Janeway and Archer both sucked and it hurt their respective shows.

The good news?  The guys that started their careers on Star Trek (but not onscreen) have learned their lessons and now are doing new better shows, like Battlestar Galactica.  BSG improves on Star Trek in every conceivable way, even though its made by some Trek veterans.  They know why Star Trek was good and why it was bad, and that's why BSG is just awesome.

I'm not sure that applies to the movie though.  I'll be hoping for the best but am not going to go in with any pre-conceived ideas that the movie is going to suck or that its going to be great.  To me, it'll be what it actually is when I see it.

We need a damn thumbs-down smiley already.

They've already screwed it up. It just hasn't been released yet for everyone to see how badly. But they've screwed it up.

Bad casting. Ruined continuity. They should have just left well enough alone after Nemesis tanked, but I guess there was a last ounce of milk left in the cash cow they needed to squeeze out.

Didn't mean to neglect this thread for so long..

How do you think they screwed up?  Just curious..

The first captain of the Enterprise I recognize is Robert April, who commanded the original before Pike. Nothing from that piece of trash Enterprise series exists as far as I'm concerned.

I completely agree...  Personally, for what it's worth, I mildly enjoyed the last two seasons of Enterprise..  But I don't consider it canon for various reasons..  Brannon Braga and Rick Berman had the opportunity to make something truly awesome..  They could've the entire Earth/Romulan War (the time around when Enterprise takes place)..  But what they came up with was trash for the most part..
Seasons 2 and 4 were good due to the direction of Manny Coto..  I think it could've gotten better..  But they canceled..

This movie will have the characters April and Pike as well as other background characters...  Pike DOES get messed up in a training exercise..
Maybe we'll see a modernized version of the infamous life-support wheelchair that beeps twice for no, and once for yes...

actually the NX01 was added for the series
the original Enterprise NCC-1701 WAS commanded first by Capt. Robert April the 2nd commander was Capt. Christopher Pike the 3rd was Capt. James T. "THE MAN" Kirk. If you follow the true continuity of the books and show combined.

As a side note according to the books Kirks father George Kirk was Capt. Robert April's 1st officer on the Enterprise.....damn i feel all geeky now :O

EDIT: I see the mucked with the original bridge...big time! not sure i like it....guess ill have to wait and see

Ever see this?  It's a preview of some dudes who make Star Trek episodes (continuing missions for season 4 that never happened)
with recast of original crew..  Funny, but interesting..  The CGI is actually pretty good...
Just forward through the beginning stuff if you're not interested..  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHL36D5c9Dw

As far as the books are concerned, I read mostly the series such as the Errand of Vengeance and Errand of Fury trilogies..  Can't seem to put those down..  I've read most of the Lost Era stuff...  The Invasion! series was pretty good..  I've read so many I don't even remember all of them..  Some I wish they made into episodes or movies...  Probably be better than some of the least favorite ones..

Dude, I could talk Trek Geekdom in a Speedo all day long naked in a room full naked women and not even get excited...
Pathetic...  Truly pathetic... :cry

I loved the original series FAR more than STNG. Reason is it didn't have episodes that contradicted previous ones.

Problem with this movie is it will have Kirk fighting the Romulans. If you recall the episode, "Balance of Power", :The U.S.S. Enterprise is able to pick up a visual from the Romulan bridge, which shows the previously unseen Romulans to look very much like Vulcans. This sparks an old prejudice in Lieutenant Andrew Stiles, whose family fought in the Romulan wars. He is instantly suspicious of Spock, whose physical characteristics are remarkably similar to the Romulans they are chasing.

Actually, he will be fighting Romulans from the future (supposedly post TNG Romulans that aren't part of the Romulan Star Empire)..
And nothing says he'll be fighting them directly..  You know how Romulans are..  Getting someone to do the dirty work for them...
Rogue Klingons maybe.....??

By the way, Balance of Terror is a great episode (probably my over all favorite next to The Doomsday Machine)..

It's not in the movie itself, but in the back-story used when they were developing and fleshing out the character.

I DO believe there was a scene that was cut from one of the three movies with Saavik which would have discussed it.

Actually, in the novelization she tells David Marcus that he could not hurt her, be she could severely hurt him..
This was after David Marcus telling her she must be Mr. Spock's daughter, which she took offense to because she thought
it insulting for Mr. Spock (not her)..

And, in the novelization of "Star Trek III: Search for Spock", Savik and David Marcus have a one-night fling.  For what it's worth, I was disappointed that K. Alley did not reprise her role as Savik in the third Trek movie.

I enjoyed Enterprise for the most part, but only because I choose to see it as an "alternate universe" from the git-go.  There were simply too many time-line distortions to consider it part of a continuum with the other series.  Apart from the orignial series, I liked DS9 the best out of the new series, and it was I believe truer to Roddenberry's original "Wagontrain to the Stars" concept (the original series' working title, btw).  Unlike all the other series, I felt it was consistently well done from the beginning.  TNG took the first two seasons to solidify into a decent show, and Voyager simply never did in my book.  I even missed the finale of Voyager (and about 2/3 of the rest of the episodes), it was that un-interesting to me.

Regarding the new movie, I will so see it; however, I have serious issues with some of it.  First and foremost is the insistence on having the junior bridge crew present.  Sulu, Chekov, and Uhura, and McCoy were not in the pilot episode (not even sure Scotty was in that episode, but his absence could have been explained away, as could McCoys).  More importantly, as young as they're portraying Kirk, the junior bridge crewmen would've still been in grade school! Kirk was supposed to be in his early 30's when he assumed command of the Big-E, the youngest officer to ever assume command of a starship.  There was actually a very good ST novel written about Kirk assuming command of the Enterprise, and it would have made a good movie.  Don't recall the title.  I also liked the story about Kirk's father's involvement with the Enterprise when it was launched (Titled "Enterprise", I believe).  I would have preferred that as the premise for a prequel movie, myself.

In "Enterprise", I kept expecting Cpt.Archer to go, "Al!,...Al!,...Where are you Al??,..
        ....I need you!"
