I Love Yank airplanes
« on: October 21, 2008, 05:43:58 PM »
I must admit it here I love the Aces High Yank set. If the HiTech modelers were sitting here right now I'd probably give them a kiss I love the 38, hellcat, Jug, Corsairs, so much, "and if I was a Pony specialist I'd love that too". Bomber-wise I am simply in awe. My beloved B-26s, the B-17s I adore, the B-24s I love to fly formation in, the A-20 that is far better then its credited for. I Love em all.

Yes I am a Yank, which might explain much of it. And yes I'm a USAF veteran, even tho I was a ground pounder. But in terms of lethality, versatility, performance, and assortment, the AH Yank plane set is just a wonderful thing.

Oh I'm a huge fan of the Brit set too. Most of all the Mossie and the Spit. I love the KI-67, am mad for the new IL-2, adore the Yak and LAs, and spend many hours in 110s. But its the Yank set that keeps me coming back for more. I could spend days flying nothing else.

Seeing a Hellcat mission coming off a CV makes me feel like a teenager going to his junior prom. I just cant help it. I know we need some filling out of the other sets but lets not also forget there are still large holes in the Yank set. Most of all a Perk bomber.

Right now my current girl is the Hellcat, but that can change in an instant. Take a Hellcat up with 1/2 fuel, get a little air under you, and its a pretty lethal air defense machine too. This is not just a CV born bomb truck. Anyway... :salute to the AH plane modelers.

The American plane set is my favorite... the P-39 is Amazing, as is the P38... The Jug is probably the most versatile plane next to the F4Us.

(I'd put the 38 up there also, but in real life, most 38s couldn't dive very well as far as I know)

idon't have much time in the 39, but it surprised me to be able to outturn a p38 on the deck in it.

I forgot the P-39. Thats the kinda plane when you fly it you end up asking yourself why your not in it more.

I miss the hitting power of cannon when i fly ameriplanes.  I do like the F6F and P-47 tho.
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

"Large hole" is a relative term.  I can have a large hole in a sock, or there can be a large hole in the side of a wall.  A large hole in a country's planeset in AH is relative to the other countries' planesets, and this hole doesn't hold water. :lol

The P-38 could dive quite well, just had to be careful is all.

If you know what you are doing you can recover from most dives in AH.  I pulled out of a 540+ mph dive just last night. Was pretty easy actually, just had to deal with a hard blackout.

LMAO! If the American plane set has "large holes", Italy's floating in plain void!

During the LCA intercept mission, I had 3 Ponies dive from me after their pass.  All three in unison made a hard dive to the deck in what appeared to be an attempt to get me to enter into compressability and auger.  I was easily 500mph+ TAS and kept myself at that speed by throttling back and using rudders to maintain my speed.  The P-51Ds however didn't control their dive speeds and all three augered almost in unison while I pulled out quite easily and zoomed back up.
