CV control and Egos
« on: December 17, 2008, 09:29:18 AM »
About 3 mins ago Tripl5 took control of CV82 and lined it up perfect for the enemy lancs inbound resulting in the lancs sinking the CV easily.  Trilp5 was not in the area of 82, not on the guns defending nor in an aircraft defending nothing.  Seems he was upset with some of the guys at 82 not playing "his way" and doing as he commanded, so he decided since we would not do as he wanted he turned the boat in harms way and was else where.

The CV control system is a good idea for rank in my opinion but only if your in the area.  I hope that a control system can be put in place in the future that if your not on the CV or in a gun or in an Aircraft attached to that CV group, then you can not control it.  I think this type of system would stop  some bantering and arguing

Good idea!  I dont know enough about how this code works in game, but that shouldn't be too too hard.

Really Good Idea!!!

I try my best to not jump on the band wagon and hammer on Trip when 99% of the people in the game do, but antics like this,(and this ain't the 1st time), make me wonder why I even bother.

Not the same but along those lines, I hate when someone on the other side has a second account that he/she uses to occupy the shore battery, keeping others out while the enemy CV is in range. IMO this situation should be handled by rank.

This is not the first time tripl has done this Tildeath. Pondscum is the term. Usually, higher ranked pilots use good judgement in CV control but there is always PONDSCUM out there!

The problem is the rank system.... very easy to rank high.

While this is true, as evidenced by my own rank. I'm more interested in creating a solution for an obvious problem, not debating the merrits of the ranking system. Maybe a timeout system could be put into place where if you didnt fire the gun within X amount of time, you where automatically thrown out of it.

Just a mild hijjack first... many a time was manning a SB waiting for the CV finally getting into the gun's arc... all the while hearing incessant rants about that lame spies manning the SB and not shooting ;)

Back on topic: While "being on CV or attached to a plane that took off from it (which is already tracked by the game)" has its merits, it also has a big drawback:
Off peak time, a CV still some distance away from it's target - and suddenly Lancs appear to sink it. Now I can at least give the CV a last-minute evasive course, even though I am not near, just like anybody else. When you have to be at the CV in such a situation, it's unlikely somebody will be there quick enough...

The problem is the rank system.... very easy to rank high.

The reason why it's so easy to rank high is the long laundry list of things needed to do it.  One might think that would make ranking high difficult, but it has the opposite effect because a lot of people are not interested in competing in the more obscure categories, like....

capture a field in "attack" mode
fire rockets from a pt boat or the sdk
use a wirbelwind to take down buildings to improve hit %
fly a C47 for field capture
bomb a strat without drones (for bombing %)

-------------

I'm not sure how much I like the idea of having to be attached to a cv in order to control it.  If I'm in the area of one and I see it's heading straight for a pt spawn or a sb (usually the default rout is sending it to its death), I move it.
