ODBAL, hoyt pics.
« on: December 22, 2008, 09:48:38 PM »
hey dude,
i figured, that rather than continue a hijack in the christmas thread, i'd do a new one.

here's a few pics of my hoyts.

the camo bow is the one i've had for about 1 1/2 years. it has the XT 2000 limbs, a drop away rest, and a sure-lok 5 pin sight.
the target bow is the one i just got a few weeks ago. it has XT3000 limbs, a lizards tongue drop away rest, and a sure-lok 5 pin sight. this bow is getting a sure-lok target sight..the one pictured. it has a 4X scope built in right now, but as i shoot without a scope right now, and my scores compare to the guys with scopes(i average in the 420's and 430's with a best possible 450) i feel i may not like the scope. i just want to try it.

the camo bow is significantly lighter, and very nice in the outside 3d shoots. i've shot in langhorne, harleysville, princetown, redwing, and falls township. i liked harleysville the best, although we shot that one in a light rain. that just seemed to add to the challenge, and fun.

I thought this thread was a typo and was suppose to be Hoty, not Hoyt.

For those of you that made the same mistake as me...

Here at work I don't have pics of my New bow, here are some from a 3D shoot last summer.

This is me with my old bow.  Hoyt Vulcan.  I used a Sureloc 1 Pin sight on it, loved it.  This thing was shooting at 318 fps.  We had an Elk target out 158 yards and I hit it 2 out of 3 times.

Here is my girlfriend shooting.  This bow is a Hoyt Avenger in Inferno color.  She uses a Sureloc Supreme sight and has since added a Posten Stabilizer system.  She ended up winning this shoot in the womens division.

This was my son's bow, Hoyt Vectrix.  He has gone to a target bow since.

I will post pics of mine and my son's new bows tonight.  I am shooting in a Techno Hunt league right now and the winner gets a new Hoyt Bow.  If I win I will get the new AM32 in Black Matte.  Those bows are so sweet.  Are any of you guys active on the Archerytalk.com forums?  If so, what are your usernames?

Wingnutt, Vulcan or Katera?

Kat, love it, 72# at 29" and getting 322fps with light speeds.

I have a HHA site for it and a longer cartel stab, but I usually just hunt with it as its show in the pic.

Very nice, They are great bows.  My current bow is a Vectrix XL with the Z3 cams, so essentially it is a Kat XL.  Only pulling 60# on this one though, its more of a target bow.  Want to get back to a 70# Alpha this year hopefully.  You guys need to get a Hoyt logo in your av's and represent!  :rock  I will put up a pic of my current bow today, it is known as Halle Berry in these parts cause she is black, and she is beautiful  :aok

YAKNOW......

i've never clocked either one of mine. i'm only pulling 59# on the camo bow, and 55# on the target bow.

the longest target i've ever shot was 78 yards away, on the falls township course...i think it was an elk. i hit it twice, and lost the third arrow. i'm only sighted for 55 yards on my 5th pin though. i had to give a lot of leeway to hit that.

i shoot camo hunters(2315), and stalkers(2216). i like the stalkers better, as they seemsomewhat more accurate.

i had been using quickspins, but i started grouping way too tight, and ruining arrows. they also seemed to take away a bit of range.

Cap,
What kind of strings you using on your bows? I have used Winners Choice quite a bit and they seem to be very good strings.  I'm not a speed freak, but it is nice to have if it is available, but I definitely wouldn't sacrifice accuracy just to have a faster bow.  I am currently shooting Gold Top Ultralights.

stock string on the camo bow, and winners choice on the target bow.

i should note, i got the ultra tec set up as it is in the pics. it seemed like a decent deal, at its price....and i shoot left handed. they;re hard to find unless i wanted to fork over for a brand new one...which i can't afford right now.

i noticed the release your girlfriend's using too. i tried them, but couldn't find a comfortable place to anchor my hand. i still use a wrist release.

what i wish i had vid of was when i got my PSE,.,,,,,like a true anal orifice, i tried to finger shoot it. that didn't work out so well.  :rofl
