planes that have style
« on: December 22, 2000, 08:28:00 PM »
Main Entry: 1style
Pronunciation: 'stI(&)l
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English stile, style, from Latin stilus spike, stem, stylus, style of writing.
Date: 14th century
1 : DESIGNATION, TITLE
2: a particular manner or technique by which something is done, created, or performed.

(planes I think have style, your list will differ)
109f4... it looks cool as hell and turns great
109g2,g6... fun as hell
f4u1d...style!!
fw190's...looks great hard as hell to fly
p-38L...looks beautiful and its my favorite ww2 aircraft.
typhoon...style! best artwork in ah. though dweebs are encroaching upon its style with 1.04
p-47's...style! its true fans are its only patrons... they give the jug additional style cuz they love their jugs
a6m5...style! you have to love the zeke
P-51d...style! opportunists give it a bad name but its got more style than many even with dweeb runners flying it.
202...style! nibble your opponents to death

(edit: I've changed my mind. almost all planes in AH have style but these have more style than the others in my mind   )

whats your list?

109f4, lotsa style. Best looking 109 in the game in my opinion. Just made a film about it   (shameless plug)

The G10 in the same category as the F4u1c and N1K? ouch

The Spitfire MkVb certainly has style.

Of course, all Spitfires have style, but I notice that you're trying to keep the early war aircraft in the list.

I agree.  The 109G-10 is not a super killer of an airplane.

It does take some flying, and more importantly shooting skills to be good with it.  It has very little ammo to waste.  Very little.

The bottom line is, every airplane in the game is available to be used.  Complaining that people actually do is pretty selfish.

Hans.

For those defending the G-10... one question:

Why is it the most popular LW plane?

Cit is right.

dejavu, do you think that LW's should fly 190A8 or 109G6 instead?
= death traps, more than any allied plane.. almost..

I think it is style if you can get kills with single MG151/20 and couple MG131's in G10 (thats my usual armament in all 109s)
More in here I wonder why Yak isnt listed with 109 - after all, YAK beats G10 easily.

I wonder whats the style with Typhoon, I've flown it alot and I've even fought with spits for short time and ran off.
its insta turns (tm) are somewhat superb with speed and it can outrun about everything on the deck, with power of 4 hispanos.

btw. mostly I've been on A/G duty with Typhoon and usually when fighter attack has occured, I've been in disadvantage... and results have been quite good for me. (Either killed the enemy or at least managed to ran away)

P-51D..  why this is having style if 109G10 isnt?
I don't say that P-51D is uber or anything too super, but I sure know that it has no style, if 109G10 does not have.

Fw190s.. I am surprised   (at least A8 has.. i havent tried A5 much)

but you forgot spitfires from your list (I think spit 5 is better than 9  )

C.205.. dunno, that is fairly good plane with plenty of ammunition. (of course it is style if you grab 7.7mm instead of 20mm...)

P-47, thats been my style ride since WB's

fishu these aircraft have style.
style isnt about how good the plane is.

style is originality, rarity, difficulty, beauty.

as for the 109g6 death trap comment?
well I said the 109g6 has style. I didnt say style means its easy to compete with.
but in order to defend not only the style of the 109g6 but the combat effectiveness of it i must enlighten you with stats for the 109g6 from fatty who just started flying it for... the fun of it!

fatty has 79 kills and has been killed 52 times in the Bf 109G-6. (fatty mixes it up hard and goes in guns blazing against anything and still comes out with a great k/d in the g6. talk about style.)

your whine about LW aircraft sucking has just been invalidated fishu
but they are hard for newbies to fly no doubt

style is subjective and everyones definition is different. this is a subjective post questioning the very reasons why dweebs flock to certain less powerful planes... the only logical reason? style!
