on a side note, if you to see what is easly the pinnacle of scalability, look at x-plane.. the sim is a marvel, perhaps the 9th wonder of the world.. Its brilliant design allows for it to be scaled back and set to run on the biggest piece of crap you can imagine, but also it can be ramped up to take advantage of the latest and greatest and produce visuals that are on par with and in many cases superior to the industry giant resource potato that is FSX..
the flight modeling also puts FSX to shame.. insted of "its this plane, so it does this x,y,z it uses "blade element theory" (see here

not only that, it will run on Windows, Lunix, and MacOS.. and not only that you can actually run it on multiple computers over a network.. for example I have my navigation and radios running on my laptop, while running the rest of the game on my main computer.
oh yea, the team that pulled all this off is comparable in size to HTC
