Let him go? or Kill him?
« on: March 28, 2009, 10:53:08 PM »
When you shoot a half wing of the enemy aircraft what do you do? Let him go or finish him? Both in real life and AHII.

The reason why i'm asking this is because i really don't know what is the right thing to do.
In Real Life: From one point of view he is defenseless and it is really not right to just kill someone that can't do a thing about it. From the other point of view, that is your enemy, and if you don't kill him now he will come back and kill you.
In Aces High: For some reason i still don't feel right shooting down defenseless planes even though in real life it would not hurt the guy controlling it. How ever if you do shot him down he will come back faster, and if you don't it will take him time to RTB and get back.

Depends on the situation...

If there aren't any bad guys around, I'll probably finish him.  If he has friends in the area, I'm more concerned with the threats.

That's in game...  Real life?  Can't say.  Never been, nor will I ever find myself in that situation.

Well Iv'e been shot down with 1 wing from a respected  F4u in the game. So probably if I'm in a 1v1, I'll finish. Especially  if he hos.  Fighting in a furball I'll let em go to find the next threat or target or check my 6 for the picker ;)

It's all according.  If the guy has put up a great fight and I only get half of his wing, I let him go.  If the guy was a picking, HOing, vulching, all-around dweeb I shoot the piss out of him untill he's dead.  If a guy calls it out on 200 saying :Salute so and so that was fighting me, I'm gonna try to RTB half wing" then I will let them go.  IDK why for the last one, just something I always seem to do.

1. Dead Pilots Don't fly another day...Kill him if you want
2. If you let him go RTB in RL the sucker may be too scared to come back and will Stick to flying Cessnas Until he is 67 and starts lying to his Grand children Saying "You see sonny...I killed that man with half a wing! your grandpappy may have to teach you skill like that!"  :rofl

Although...  In game, letting him fly a sector or two home on half a wing keeps him out of the fight for more time then whacking him and allowing him to re-up in a fresh plane.

Half-winged plane can't fight, and probably can't land. If I shoot him, I potentially take the kill away from the guy who shot the wing away and is awaiting his deserved kill. Worse than that, I waste my time and ammo on an *assist!*
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

Kill.

If he doesn't want me to finish the job with bullets, then bail out.

What plane are you flying that has infinite rounds to waste earning "Assist on [Random dweeb flying crippled plane]?  :devil

If the person put up a good fight I'd consider letting him go. If he has no friends in the area I am more apt to let him go. If he has friends in the area close I will kill him to keep him from possibly shooting me while I am busy with his friends. I

f he did nothing but fly timid or tried to pick me while fighting another.... he's going down.

Great question!!!  I often find my thoughts wandering to dilemmas like these when I am driving to work...it helps keep the game fresh to play out these scenarios in my mind...this is how I have decided to handle such a situation in the game.

First...I would private vox tune him and tell him how to apply opposite rudder and trim his aircraft to help him land....

Then I would tell everyone on local to leave him alone.....

Then I would personally escort him back to his base and talk him thru landing....

Then I would ask for his phone number and home address so I could send him a box of chocolates and flowers....

Then I would pay his next month's rent and cable...

Then I would start augering anytime I wounded another plane in the air without it blowing up so I wouldn't get the kill..

If I didn't do all that I just wouldn't feel that I had satisfied my "virtual" honor...

Then I would meet my good imaginary friend Mr Snufalophagus and come up with other dumb "imaginary" or "virtual" ideas to adhere too and start bbs threads about them....

In real life it is a different situation of course.  I think I would have to go with answer "C"

Answer "C" of course is dress up like a pretty girl and go into a tough biker bar.  Then I would dance provocatively until the leader of the bike gang came and made out with me in the middle of the bar.  Then I would hike up my skirt and yell "Hahahaha..I tricked you...I am really a guy....hahahahhaha"

But then again I always choose answer "C" when I'm not sure what to do....
