This surprises you on Titanic Tues? IIRC this sort of game play was one of the primary reasons the arena caps were imposed a few years back.
A couple of whiners means arena caps? Because a few folks can't deal with a multi-fighter environment? Did the English whine when the Germans flew over England? Did the German's whine when the Allies came flew over Occupied Europe? Who had numerical numbers? The Germans over England or the Alliles over Germany? Who cares? It's a game.
Personally, I've always felt it was a mistake to cap arenas. That's my opinion which means the exactly the same as yours. I think it adds to the realism of battle when you are in a multi-enemy fighter environment. Whining just means you're to lazy to learn to deal with numbers. I wonder why most of the old players don't seem to have issues? How could that be?
Oh yeah, I got killed the other night because I got stupid and dropped in low to clear 3-4 off some guys 6 who dropped into a mess because that's how he likes to fly. I got one stayed in, got in too deep, pinged up another, died. Could I have avoided it? Yep. Did I know what I was about to do would probably get me kilt? Yep. The guy that dropped in and who actually had no SA did exactly what he wanted to do. I cleared his 6 once, twice but he still died. So did I for doing it. He was dead the second he went in low with those guys. I didn't have to die and could have overflown the fight, got my kills and landed them. Guess what? I never heard a peep outa him. No whines. We did what we wanted to do and actually had fun doing it. I also took a HO from another guy the same night. I was paying attention out front because I was in on some dude. I glanced forward and nearly tripped over myself trying to get outa some HOer's way and took a hit to my fuel. I bugged and managed to limp the 14 miles home in glide mode. No whines. It happens. It will not stop happening nor do I care.
Whining has a tendency to cheapen a persons credibility even if it is....just a game. Speaking of games I remember whiners actually brought the demise of a fighter sim game during the DOS days. A few whiners complained histerically about having too many people flying around every night, having to far to fly to fight. Lessee, 100 up flying and 10 miles to a fight. They got their wish. Fights were 5 miles or less and approximately 20-30 people flew nightly. Many players dropped their accounts and migrated to another game. The game closed its doors. Be careful what you might wish for.....
This really is not an attack on anyone. Just realizing it's a game in which you alone can set the rules you wish to fly by. If you die by HO say to yourself..."how did I get to this point?" You may not like the answer...you chose to do it.
