Ship guns are often out of range from players on ground zero. So any arty with that kind of range would only be useful for objects.  You couldn't clear a spawn point from beyond that range. Something like 10K?
i am not going to argue for either side but i have , more than once, killed enemy gv,s with CV cruiser guns, at ranges of more than 12k,in a town or on a feild! all it takes is a good forward observer, and the ability to work together. as far as spawns go, it is much harder to clear a spawn because of the lack of detail on the clipboard maps we use. for good artillery detailed maps are a must!!
Flying since tour 71.

I don't think "towed" weapons or arty did "shoot and scoot" very well.

Soft skinned, vulnerable from air attack, and a considerable period of time required to setup, and take down.

M3 with more options makes more sense IMO.

FYB, who are you talking to here?  I must have missed it.

First of all, learn to spell and use grammar, second, don't post threads until you know what you're talking about. Third, please don't argue saying, "I'm not new to AH. I've already played 1 week of it." thanks.

Rather than towed arty, model something like the American/British Priest, take the M3 Grant/Lee (or for the game desginers sake, the M4 sherman) medium tank chassis, take the top half off throw some side armor on, leave it open topped and put a 105mm Howizter or simular gun in there.

essentially the same vulnerability as the LVT4, but with a little more range than the stubby 75mm.

M7 Priest self-propelled 105mm howitzer would probably work out ok for the game..

Woops, looks like some ppl watched Patton 360
on the history channel.. Noticed that Arty played
a massive role in all WWII battles.. +10!!!!

YES, arty is the 800lb gorilla, that is conspicuously
MISSING from the game.. It would be the single biggest
ADD that could be made to this game.. (along with a
arial photo recon feature, which would yield the detailed
maps needed for its accurate usage)
After all, a weapon so massively powerful, shouldn't be a
freebie! There should be a few prerequisite opps before
it could be used to its full potential...

Arty Now??  HELL YES!!!

To the only guy who started this thread. Who else here is misspelling simple words and using bad grammar?

Who made you the spelling and grammar cop and the supreme assessor of peoples level of intellect? Did you stop to think that a lot of people on this forum are from Europe and other countries that may not use English as a first language?

BTW: your use of the English language is not one of the most eloquent example that I have seen...

I would love to see some form of artillery. I hope I spelled that right I don't want to get in trouble by the grammer cop.

^ what he said
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB
