Has anyone heard of such an engine?  It seems to be the source of "1900hp" quoted in various books/articles as the engine specs for the Me 410.

i found this:

maybe this C of the spezial 100octan c3 fuel made the confusion?
cant find any c model only one page shows a c. and says 603A-N till 2400hp but noting more :-(.

A few 109F fuselages were used to test several design features of the Me 309, which was to be equipped with the DB 603.

"Entwicklung 1944 gestoppt" = Development halted in 1944. Prototype engine.

Both the A and B series Me 410 were powered by the DB 603A or DB 603AA with a rated power of 1,750 metric hp. Some of the heavy fighter versions had GM1 injection (replacing the gun barbettes) increasing engine power at high altitude; there might have been MW50 injected versions too, but the majority if Me 410's had neither.

But basically  that's exactly what happened with the 109: Going from a 680HP engine weighing 440kg  in the pre-war 109B-1 to a ~2000HP weighing 730kg in the K-4

Granted... but it appears as though the engine in question, installed in an F tub, would likely give an F15 a run for its money in as far as ballistic acceleration.

1900ps != 1900hp, maybe that's the cause of confusion? I've read a few things that mixed up ps and hp over the years.

PS = metric HP.  1900PS is ~1874 "international" horsepower. On B4 fuel and in metric HP, on WEP, the 603A is supposed to do 1750 @ SL and 1850 at ~7000ft.  The 603AA is supposed to do 1670hp @ SL.   So it wouldn't match any other figure I've seen, other than the 603A @ ~7kft.  It's gotta be that experimental unit "C".
