One of the books i'm currently reading is 'War in a stringbag' by Charles Lamb, he was shot down and forced to ditch into the sea by stukas- which he described as travelling at lightning speed. :D

For years this Community called the Ki-61 a "POS".   While they still will, there is a certain "respect" for the bird as I and others embarrassed many in it.   

 +1 to the ki-61 not being a POS lol i dont really enjoy fling it but it gives me a heck of a run for my money :D I'm glad not many people fly them :)

I think the problem people have with the Ki61 is that on top of a middling performance envelope, the torque really bites.  The kind of rudder work it requires is probably what turns off most people.

I don't use rudder in it and only used it in loops to line up a quality shot.   All I see is most people "picking" in it when I come across them.  They have no clue on how it turns, which is why I've shot everyone down so far.   I know what it's capable of.   

4XTCH is the best all around guy in the Ki-61 right now, IMO.  He doesn't rely on picking and will get down and dirty like I used to do.  I taught him well and he can get it to turn nicely.

I'll look for you one of these nights.   I'll let you join my ride and hopefully get into a good fight (I will end up getting ganged though) and try to maximize your instincts in the Ki-61. 

I've only taught 2 people so far and they are the only ones who STILL fly it.   Nisky and 4X.  They are good in it, very good actually.

when it is all said and done:  i'd just as soon have the Grumman F3F-3 which preceeded the Buffalo.  But, it is nice to open a new country for a/c inclussion by HTC

No, most Ship's Anti-Aircraft could not take into account it's slow speed.   This is precisely how the Bismarck became a sitting duck.   Unfortunately, the Scharnhorst raid was different and wasn't executed properly. 

But, the Swordfish would be a more viable plane, than the B-29.


Hmmm..... Drop 20,000lbs of bombs at an "untouchable" altitude, or fly 90mph face first into a waiting 5 inchers sights......  oh I just cant choose which one I like, they both sound so good.

And I'm sure people would hold this plane with that same respect were it to be added.  I just think we should focus on adding aircraft that will see more all around use instead of just for certain scenarios.

So what we need are more late war cannon fodder planes?

Sounds like another one of those cases regarding putting the planes everybody wants on hold to add a fighter that outside of special events will just get its A#% kicked all up and down the MA.
Hush, the addition of aircraft is not your decision. Remember that you are allowed to access the wonderful world that we call Aces High. Besides, there are other people who want aircraft that will be "Late War Cannon Fodder" as the LWA is not the only arena open for business.

Bring on the I-16, G4M1, Ki-43, and whatever "inferior" aircraft have yet to be added.
