No Kids here

:huh. If you mean here as in this forum then OK. If you mean here as in the game then you are wrong. I remember this one guy in TITANIC TUESDAY who kept cussing over the VOX range thing. Pappy told him to shut up or something along those lines if I remember correctly.

Followed by...

Strikes me as kind of funny...

But anyway...  If I found myself being bothered by the PM rants with foul language, I think I'd do the report thing, followed by an email to HTC describing the problem.  I'm pretty sure that the report feature gives HTC the info they need, but an email probably wouldn't hurt.

I bet it does.   Go train the finer Art of Picking.    This was a troll from the onset, you snipe from sidelines like the OP to begin with.   He already explained (if you weren't so dead set on singling me out) that he didn't have the time to roll film.

But wait, you enter the thread with a "joke" and get a couple of others to "laugh" at their own "jokes".   You rule picker!   :rock

Not to mention, you had to edit that post.

LOL, so harsh!

Troll?  Nope, just pointing out the "pot calling the kettle black"...  If you want to poke at people's use of the language, it kind of suggests you should use it properly yourself...

I edited it, but not for what you seem to suggest, hehe...  (and I didn't "have" to edit it, I "chose" to edit it)

not the 1st time this leaf has been turned clone ! It's best when someone flips out on range / country or 200 , then crawls on BBS few moments later with tail between legs going "  I'd like to appologize for acting like a colostomy bag earlier in the MA". I was upset you ho'd me , vulched me , ran ,out flew me,picked me,stole my kill etc !  Learn to love it clone it will not stop!  Funny enough it's not the squeekers who are the problem it is our old wrinkled arses who act like jerks  not the new kids on the block :noid

I have a son and daughter, ages 10 and 13.  They're probably past the "little kid" stage, but I've been playing for about 8 years so they were "little" when I started.

I can see why some would be concerned about "bad" language, even though I've found it to be pretty rare that it's bad enough to be a concern, IMO anyway.  I wear headphones, so it's never been an issue in my house.

Beyond that, I do find a certain irony in the idea that it isn't ok to allow a child to hear bad language, but it is apparantly ok for them to watch/participate in a game that simulates shooting/destroying/killing...  Even if the kids just see "pops" shooting the "bad guys", is that really better than having them hear/learn/repeat a "bad" word?

Given the choice, standing back and looking at the two as seperate, we might be better off to switch the two around.  Allow the kids to hear/speak the bad language, but get mad if they're exposed to a bunch of people simulating warfare.

It would also be inconsistent for me to get mad if they're exposed to bad language while I play the game, when they'll likely hear the same language at school, at the store, and/or while dad's out "fixing" the car or paying bills.

And actually, having my kids hear it while I'm playing might be for the better.  At least that way it happens in a situation where I can explain why some people think it isn't "appropriate" and why I don't think they should use language like that.  If it happens when I'm not around, I don't have that option...

And beyond that, I think there's a certain "regional" or "social class" difference in how/what language is considered "normal" or "offensive".  In my normal day-day life, a lot of "bad" language is the "norm".  To not use it would stick out as much as it would if I did use it in other situations.  I almost speak a different language when I'm at home or out in public, or with my parents.  In game, the language I use on private vox with friends can be radically different than the language I use on "range" vox, or on private vox with people I don't know very well.  That could easily give people I don't know a much better opinion of me than I deserve.  A kind of "language disguise", hehe!

This post is probably the most true of all the posts in this thread.  I, as a teenager myself (17) believe that what it all boils down to is the parenting.  While some parent are too overprotective of their children, there are also those who don't really care about their children or what they hear or say.  I believe it is better to let your children around these types of things while they are young and still under the parents' supervision.  That way the parents are able to, like MtnMan said, "educate" them on what is "right or wrong."

Another thing you have to realize, again as MtnMan said, is that if you think AH language is bad....go to your local high school, or even middle school.  The language there is twice as bad as the language I've heard playing AH.

Let me just start by saying bad language will not be tolerated.

Tell the guy who is using the bad language!  Do you think the people who attack you w/ foul language actually read these forums?  I find that warning somebody once usually does the trick, here and in real life.  If you are truly offended by this attack, just squelch.

The worst language I've heard online is from our squad channel, daily!  If kids are around turn it down ahead of time.

If I feel like complaining about somebody, I first try and look at my bad traits/habits and how I can improve.

One of the funniest(disturbing to some) comments I've heard here is from a rook who will be named only as 'V'(rooks, you know whom I'm talking about) threatened another rook on range channel if "I see you on the street, I'll kick your @@@ing *a@@"  along with 2-3 minutes of yelling and swearing.  He does the swearing  pretty much nightly and I've yet to say anything because I find it amusing.  Is it wrong?  Maybe/probably, but I'm not the channel police.  If I saw somebody being talked to on the street I would probably step in to figure what's going on, but here it's more like a type of internet rage.(No real consequences)

Let me just start by saying bad language will not be tolerated.

Today I was PMed with voice and this guy started swearing at me. Now I will not tolerate anything of the sort since I had my speakers on. I reported him. I know people that play with speakers on with little ones near by, and I don't think they would appreciate it.

I will not go into detail of who it was, but heed this warning. If I see you typing bad language you will get ONE warning. If I hear it over range or channel I'll let it pass but if it is directed at some one I will report.

If you want to act like a punk then go play Call Of Duty. Respect the rules.

anyone wanna bet hes talkin bout drdeath???

im far from innocent and have accidently let some smaller swear words pass through on range channel however i fly with my headset on cuz i have kids also. i know that there are accidents that when your havin fun and sometimes things happen however tuning to someone privately to curse them out is bad on their part....i still say this is a drdeath signature! hehe
