Good luck man, ah the smell of benning, its great, just like a large pan of baked ass.  Watch out for the ticks didn't see any roaches there in 2000 when I went.   Of course i was a BCT and not an ITB. Bah what ever.  FYI it does get cold as a well diggers butt down there as well.

FWIW, and I make this suggestion seriously. Get in the best shape you can before you go to boot. Seriously work on pushups and pullups with your hands facing both directions. You will need some significant upper body strength and most folks just work on running. Secondly do NOT max yourself out in the first PT test or PT evaluations. Hold back some as they will be watching and EXPECTING improvement in your PT scores. If you go out and your first test score is a 288 out of 300 they WILL expect you to improve considerably as the first few weeks go by. I'm not saying sandbag the first test as you DO need to break a sweat. Just do not go out there and give it all. Copy?

ya, I've been going to PT every tuesday and thursday at the recruiting station. there is always new soldiers there that literly just got back from basic training that do PT with us Army style. we do formation runs, formation everything! we do "Front Leaning Rest Postion" ALOT. Also, Side Straddle hop, front back goes, alot other fun stuff.
My recruiter said i'll easily beable to make rank E-2 before i ship out. all i need to do is pass a PT test at our station, then memorize the Soldiers Creed, General orders, Army values, terrian features, history, chain of command, and i think thats it. i have 14 months to prepare, i'll be in great shape before i leave.

And another "profesional bullet catcher" is born :rofl   That's what we called the Infantry when I was in Artillery.

Seriously though, Good Luck and thank you for your upcoming service. Just remember one thing. The radio operator and the machine gunners are always the first targets the enemy looks for. Take your M-16 rifle and be happy, you'll live longer, plus you don't have to hump as much crap!!! :salute

Congrats on joining up man, my sisters planing on joining the Marines when she graduates, she's 16 now and is in the ROTC, if you looked at her you'd never think thats what she wants to do, her father(my step father) was a Marine so she wants to follow in his footsteps and become a cop like him.

So a big  :salute for serving our country. :aok

Good luck man.

Try to get airborne school too.  You can probably pull a slot at basic if you are well prepared, if not before.

Heh.  Benning Mosquitos dont fly.  They kinda stomp through the woods.  I demonstrated Sling-loading a HMMWV to one once...Honest!
