FWIW, and I make this suggestion seriously. Get in the best shape you can before you go to boot. Seriously work on pushups and pullups with your hands facing both directions. You will need some significant upper body strength and most folks just work on running. Secondly do NOT max yourself out in the first PT test or PT evaluations. Hold back some as they will be watching and EXPECTING improvement in your PT scores. If you go out and your first test score is a 288 out of 300 they WILL expect you to improve considerably as the first few weeks go by. I'm not saying sandbag the first test as you DO need to break a sweat. Just do not go out there and give it all. Copy?

ya, I've been going to PT every tuesday and thursday at the recruiting station. there is always new soldiers there that literly just got back from basic training that do PT with us Army style. we do formation runs, formation everything! we do "Front Leaning Rest Postion" ALOT. Also, Side Straddle hop, front back goes, alot other
fun stuff.
My recruiter said i'll easily beable to make rank E-2 before i ship out. all i need to do is pass a PT test at our station, then memorize the Soldiers Creed, General orders, Army values, terrian features, history, chain of command, and i think thats it. i have 14 months to prepare, i'll be in great shape before i leave.
