If you cannibalize your old PC, you could buy just the motherboard, processor, and video card for ~$269...  The 4 gigs of ram is 45 bucks.  The video card is ~100 bucks. 

It's really not as dramatic to upgrade a PC as you might think. :)

Downloaded the Beta version, graphics & FPS are fine, just as in AHII, I flew & taped
my flight & botched up '51 landing, but noticed that there's no AHBeta Film Editor,
NP, copied from AHBeta films to AHII films & watched the film.
The film came out fine but the terrain & plane skins were all AHII, that's understand-
able, as presently there's no Film Viewer in AHBeta   :)

I have the AA set all the way up, all graphics sliders all the way to the left, all the shadows, horizon, etc set as "on".  I get a steady 59 FPS (monitor max is 60) in the off-line mode.  (Thanks again, TilDeath!)

IIRC, my machine is a 2.6 quad-core I7, with a GeForce 9800 GTX+ video card, and 4 gb RAM.

Flying with high detail I get very low FR. When high detail is off I cant tell how far away from the ground I am. Iv already ran into the ground thinking I wasn't near it, and also pulled off an enemy because I though we were both about to hit the ground only to find out I was more then 2k from the ground.

As the New terrain is now I believe Hitech should merge the two terrains together, my system will not run the new one properly.  He should leave an option to stay with old terrain pack.

OK there's not a lot to worry about.  It is after all a test arena and not the finished article.  I can't see HTC making a play to loose customers......can you?

Anyways got some screenies but first my system
XP home
Service pack 3
AMD Athlon 64
3000+
2GHz 1gb ram

Radion sapphire 3840 512mb


With the beta default settings I could use the 8inch with no problem although my FPS was down





Could even GV with all the bells and whistles



(Mindanao anyone ?)

When it came to flying there I met some problems.  My system was like the bad old days  FPS very low.  Seen it drop to 9 in the middle off TT furball.  Like a slide show but I could still bomb accurately when i tuck me 26's to a city.



So I turned off all the stuff in graphics advanced.  OK it don't look so pretty but could fly and fight like normal.



You have to remember its a TEST.

Aye, I remember the switch from AH to AH2, after they'd said they'd keep both versions running to avoid running customers off. Going by something HT said a few days ago in another thread, he's not looking to do it again. They lost a lot of customers over that- I think it  nearly killed HTC. Guess we'll see soon enough.

Performance does suck (this PC was built to AH2 Beta specs, when it was still 1.9something), but it looks good.
