Sorry, that was a typo from my tired brain. $1,400 a month is the correct wage. It's humble, but we have the basics.
Ah, that makes more sense, you have my admiration.

I am suspecting (I may be wrong) that many of the people who have lower end systems are not aware how to configure them properly and probably don't know enough to understand that they can upgrade..  I would also say it's safe to assume most of these systems are factory built Dells/Compaqs/etc.  As long as one has a motherboard that supports Hyper Threading as well as dual channel DDR (up to PC4000 or DDR-500), there should be no issue for the most part..  After the testing I've done, I can deduce that a Pentium 4 HT processor of at least 3.0 ghz (800mhz fsb and 1 meg cache) is sufficient given the system has atleast 2 gigs of RAM and a decent AGP video card..  Upgrading components for these systems is utterly cheap..  I can find P4 3.2 ghz HT processor w/800FSB and 1 meg cache all day for around $35.00..  Add to that 2 gigs of decent PC4000 Ram (I just found 2 gigs of OCZ PC4000 ram for $35.00) and a decent AGP video card (there are still some very good AGP video cards available) and you've got a system that will play this game at a respectable level..  I consider anyone that doesn't have a system with the capability of these kinds of upgrades needs a newer system for the simple reason that you are stuck with a 533mhz FSB and 512k (or less) of on-die cache or lower..
Not to mention, you won't be able to run dual channel ddr and are probably relegated to AGP4x..  This is all based on having a socket 478 system..   If you have an AMD Athlon XP (socket 462) system, I wouldn't even bother..  I specialize in upgrading older systems..  I have performed a modest amount of tests on a few different boxes I've built out of old parts..  No matter what video card and how much RAM I install, no AMD socket 462 based system can perform very will with regards to the latest version of AH..  If anyone needs some direction, I would be more than willing to help ANYONE considering an upgrade to their older system(PM me)..  I'm already in contact with a few guys in the game and steering them in the right direction..  There are ways to do things for a minimal cost to you..  People always balk at buying used hard-ware..  But, if you're on a budget, sometimes that's all you can do..

I'm afraid that if little Johnny can't run Aces High he's not going to have luck with pretty much any other game either. I'm pretty sure WoW is more resource intensive, at least.
Correct.  I play WoW as well and AH2 runs better on my system than does WoW.  People who think this update is making unreasanable demands on their computers/demands elite top end computers are living in lala land regarding computer games.  AH2 was, and remains, a low demand program than runs well on lower end systems than most games.  A particular note about WoW and Blizzard, they also try above and beyond the rest of the industry to support low end systems and if somebody's computer is struggling to run AH2 or a Blizzard game they will be unable to run most recent releases at all.

The bottom line is, if everyone who can play the game just fine now, traded places with those that can't, the people "whining" would be everyone who is playing the game just fine now.  I don't want to wish ill on anyone but some day you may be on the short end of the stick and I just wonder how you would feel when you received the same posts your dealing out to your fellow AH gamers.  If you have a spare card or whatever for someone, or some helpful advice please share.  If you only have sarcasm and negative comments just keep them to yourself.  AH is in itself a great game but the players and the AH community make it exceptional.

The new release works great with the good graphics and all the rest however they cant code out lame game play. The horde still reigns supreme for the bish as far as i can tell you can fix the game but you cant fix stupid. Thats a real shame maybe this new release will weed out the whiners and computer toughguys who would rather play a game than get a job. Thinning the heard or "horde" so to speak may be a good thing. One can only hope. :aok

I say Kudos to you HTC youre doing a excellent job, keep up the great work and keep these great updates comming.

tried that
intel dual 3.0`s
8800gts 320meg 3 gigs crucial ram
so its not a slow pc and it stutters with out without detail
anymore bright ideas?

btw i run pacific fighter at full detail maxed out

TB some like the OP of this thread have no idea about computers. There is a lot of hardware and software out there and not all of it plays together friendly. Some think just throwing money at a machine will make it better. They have been and remain clueless.

The big thing is I have a computer that runs games like left for dead or CoD just fine with graphics turned up. When I turn on aces high I cant get a steady 35 fps. When I turn everything Down I get 60 fps, but as soon as I get within a group of 5 or more planes fps drop to like 17.

I am at a loss really as I have tried everything I know. Not everyone with problems have a outdated pc.

Am I computer illiterate?  YES.  Do I own a 7 year old POS computer?  YES.  Does AH look like watermelon to me?  YES.  Do I really care?  NO.

Some of the 20+- year old people with high end computers that have nothing better to do in their lives, are spoiled rotten, live with their parents, etc... are the same ones that try to treat people like dirt because they're system is better than others.  And since they are either spoiled, no expenses, etc... they think it's just SO damn easy to upgrade a computer.  The fact of the matter is it simply is NOT as easy as some of you lucky gents think it might be.  I mean hell, I worked three jobs this summer myself, earned a lot of money actually, but I wasn't going to spend it all on upgrading my computer or buying a new one completely just for some game.  No, I have better things to spend it on...let's see, Truck payments, insurance, phone bill, gas money, and most importantly WOMEN  :rock.  I, being a teenager and a senior in high school, want to have fun while I still can.  Yes, AH is fun, but it's not something I'm going to dedicate my life and money to.

I'm sure several others here can agree.  So, for those with the un-Godly computers that can run AH on full settings without a problem:  if you're only going to belittle others and not help others, please STFU and get back in your basement.

That's the only thing that really "bothers" me.  I still play AH occasionally, but not like I used to.  Am I going to continue playing with the ugly terrain? Maybe, but it's not going to be the play-doh covered land and water that runs me off...

I would not be.  I would understand that my system is out of date and I need to bring it up to spec in order to play.

Banshee7, why don't you go blather your strawman somewhere else.  Your post is wrong and idiotic.  You are loony if you think a seven year old computer should still be supported, let alone catered to.

Karnak... you obviously are not savy as computers go. The person your talking about may have a much better machine than yours. How new a machine is does not necessarily affect how it will run the game.

As for you attack on Banshee. He was stating his opinion. If he can't state his then your can't either.... geeesh.
