How many out there would like to fly some WWI aircraft?

I'm all for a WW1 AH Sim as long as its done well. WB's WW1 Sim, Dawn of Aces wasn't very good.
 

The original version (2 / circa 98?-2001) was very good. unless our talking about the WB3 (current version , 2002?+). If you did not get a chance to fly the old version, you missed out on a lot of fun , and a very nicely done sim for the time. If the latter, I agree. The current version is poo, this is a common opinion amongst old timers. If developed it could be something, but there is zero development in the core game itself anymore simply because they do not have any personnel that understands it employed there.

I loved the old version of DoA, just like I loved WB before WBIII. The 'improvements' ruined both. Old DoA was hours and hours of furballin' fun, even if it didn't have any Nieuports and its Albatros and D.VII were horribly undermodelled. Was still la blast.

 I flew the first version and the last version. Left WB about 2 years ago. The competitive planes were the Dr1 and the Camel. The D7 was modeled badly. Speed wasn't right, maneuvering wise it was a brick, very similar to the D3 which probably flew the way it was supposed to. Spad was better but not quite right either. I heard that they used the WW2 engine to model the WW1 aircraft and some of them just didn't transfer over that well. But that was hearsay, so it may have had nothing to do with it. Two years ago when I left, a peak night might have 50-60 people on all their servers, maybe 10 people in DOA on a busy night. And half of them would be chasing drones or capturing bases for points.
 
 My memory of the early version was that it was better than AW but not as good as Red Baron, which was online at the time. The actual modeling was decent for the time. A lot of the fun factor is who and how many people are playing.

If remember my DoA experince correctly HOs aren't as frustrating. The planes are so slow that a HO takes a long time to complete, thus making them easier to avoid before any real damage can be done.

BTW the early versions of DoA where great, I'm sure this will be too.

Well I didn't get on in time to get up close to start of thread so probably nobody will read this but for myself, I have no interest in WWI planes in any shape fashion or form.  I like what Dale is doing with this game and wouldn't fly the other areana.   This game has all I am interested in.  I have several games I bought right after I started with this game, and each one got played about 3 times before being put in a box in the closet or thrown in the trash, and that applies to both WWI and the Korean war games.    I am not interested in paying more for something I won't use.

Something I was wondering about? The Machineguns on the WWI planes had a tendancy to move around quite a bit in their mounts when fired, giving a splattering effect to gunfire... Will this be factored in the modeling?
Or will they be a hokey laserbeam accurate deal?
