New Lag and Frame Rate problem
« on: September 27, 2009, 07:01:55 PM »
In the past few days it seems that my frame rates and lag has been a issue, I have not had any problems until this last update, nothing has change with my system or my settings, in fact I had increased my clock rates and it still made no difference. I was asking around in the MA and found a lot of people are having the same problem since the last update.

I'll jump in as well. No problems up until this weekend. Frames in the single digits. I turned the Ground Detail down to half, but to no avail. Previously I thought I was on the up & up with detailed terrain on- that is up until today. :huh If there is any more information required, I'll dig it up. Thanks.

I am having problems too since last update.  only posting here so as not to duplicate threads.  used to having 50 to 60 fps with everything on, now it drops to the 10-20 with no detail tarraine, water reflections and self shadows.  also ground detail and object detail are pulled back to the mid range.  system or vc are not overheating.  I should also add that i have been disco'd about 5 times since friday where it basically didnt happened before.  have no problems with warping.

There is a mix of different issues in this thread.

thndregg, your video card is not fast enogh to keep up with "Detailed Terrain" when a lot is going on.  You need to turn off that option and just tunr on the "Bump Map" and "Detailed Water" options.

Self-shadow, as a general comnment, requires a very fast, high end video card to be able to keep the frame rates up, especially when other things are going on around you in the game.  If you have it enabled and find frame rates dropping when things start happening, then disable the option.

guncrasher, your CPU is the limiting factor.  It caannot kjeep up with the 9800GTX video card.  You need to clear out your background processes and get your computer running really lean to be able to pump the video card with data.

OK Skuzz... I have the same exact deal... up until the new version (2.15) I could fly with all options on and maintain 40-50FPS in almost all conditions.... now I struggle to see frame rates in the teens, even with all sliders set to performance and all options off except for detailed terrain.

I can turn detailed terrain OFF and see my frame rate pegged at 60fps all of the time, no matter what all of my other settings are at.  This is at 1680X1050 with one notch of AA at the main AH video settings window (graphics set to app controlled) and 1024 textures with the hi-res pack.

As you can see, although I don't have an I7, my hardware isn't exactly dated either.  I should add that I never got to play with patch 0, so I don't know if this problem started with 2.15 in general, or if it's a patch 1 deal...

If you ran the newest update for a week THEN something started hurting your frame rates it most likely isn't the update, you would have had trouble from the start. Have you run PingPlotter to see how your connection is? If your connection has gone bad over the weekend you would run into these kind of stuff.

I haven't been on that much since the update and when I was the area was low in numbers and later at night, so I didn't see much or was I looking at my performance until I seen the issues becoming more prevalent. I will post my dxdiag when I get home, then let me know if the issue is my system.

I agree with dcboss.  my fps only got worst since the last update. your right skuzzy my cpu is a little behind my vc but  before update I had really great fps.  that's the reason i havent gotten the e8400 processor yet.  I have also noticed that sometimes, I will damage a plane and I get neither kill/assist mesage.  I have been trying to record but when I have recorded on i never seem to get it on video.  only video I have is from the prior update ( I believe) when I damaged 2 airplanes and neither was showing on the text buffers.  only reason I am posting here is as to not duplicate threads.  will upload film in a couple of hours.

Was reviewing some old films and remembered that the current map has always messed up my fr (by chance been fiting over fields with jungles around).  way too many trees, coupled with some large furballs that I have been involved in the past week (field of view has been full of red planes)and adding the fact that I just got a 23 in monitor (2 weeks ago) with a higher resolution than before.  Sorry for doubting you skuzzy, in my case the processor is the problem.  I do have it oc to 3.2 but guess not enough for this map.  and it all coincided with the last update.  Will keep checking on the no kill/assist message, hope I can get a couple of videos then will post it in the bug section.

I am having the same "lag, low framerate" issue.  However I haven't changed anything.

So what did HTC do different 72 hours ago?

And how can I fix it?

In the last 3 days?  We have not done a thing.  I am willing to bet the Internet has changed though.  It does, everyday.
