That's good news.  Me personally I would be so happy that he is alive and give it some time.  Then punish the ever loving crap out of him for causing that kind of scare.

This story stinks of Bs and I'm eyeballing the parents.  I wonder if a bill for wasted public services is being drafted up yet for the family.

I saw something about them being on some TV show called 'wife swap' not sure if it's true though.

I knew it was a hoax. Dad let it go while working on it, and blamed the kid  :lol

Either the Dad lost it then realized if he told authorities his kid was in it, they'd find his balloon for him and make sure it was not lost.  Or the thing was built just to mislead the public with this story for whatever motives they had.

There's just absolutely no way the kid was hiding in a box in the attic and it was all just a big misunderstanding with a nice fluffy happy ending, give me a break.  This is outrageous.

I live in Colorado and was watching this live gritting my teeth as they showed the balloon flying over the eastern plains.

I wouldn't be so sure.   Kids do make mistakes like that, and exaggerate in their minds the consequences their parents will inflict.

I know I certainly did some things that I thought were going to get a much more severe reaction than they did.  Obviously nothing on this scale, but still....

My bet is that the kid did let it go accidentally, then ran and hid so he 'wouldn't get in trouble for losing daddys balloon'.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

I'm not saying either one would surprise me, I just know that kids do stuff like that.

Basically, in my mind the jury is still out and there is a lot more info we'd need to make hard judgment calls from in front of our computers.

I find it hard to believe that this unattended 6 year old let the balloon loose by himself, was then reported as being in the balloon when it flew away, and was then able to run into the garage, and hide in the attic all the while undetected.  Anything is possible I guess but I say it's tenfold more likely that someone is lying.
