Investigators are going to put pressure on the parents now to come out with the truth and they are going to defend against it by playing the "How dare you after we went through this" card.  Hopefully the parents break, but either way they are going to get a ton of press coverage now, just what those people wanted.

Well, If the kid is hiding in a garage scared to death and a very expensive balloon is missing. Its quite obvious that he was to blame for releasing the balloon. Whether the story that the kid was in it was true or not the fact of the matter is they found the kid and he is back where he belongs. And that is how it should be, whether this was a scam or a major freak out: hes home, the press is making a fortune and we get a good thread on the forum. Its a winner all round.

And in regards to the stupid childhood antics side thread.

Im only 15 and im surprised I made it past three, I grabbed wires and rumaged through kitchen cupboards and to boot I was a curios little bastage so ive dug my way into more holes than a mole.

The problem is that most 6 year old kids have a problem knowing what they should and shouldn't say.  I heard the Wolf Blitzer interview on my home this morning.  Sounds like that kid doesn't have the guile required for that and blew it.  Also the parents reek of attention potatoness.  Yesterday I would have said that it didn't sound like a put-up job, but today it stinks of something even more unwholesome.  I hope the parents get hit for the cost expended for this whole mess.
