Great shots ranger!   :aok

If you have it, could you show the towns in comparison?

Remember there use to be a barracks in the towns that had to be killed to knock troops down.

Any, great shots from ranger and great work to all at HiTech.

I had forgotten all about that...but I had never really had a chance to pork in AH1. :D

I miss how the old objects used to spew stuff when they were destroyed. Made StukaBombing a town really entertaining.

And, of course, the infamous Porked Small Airfield.

Thanks to Roscoroo, you can download AH1, AH1 Terrain Editor & many old H2H terrains:

I liked the way the town buildings looked in AH1 better I think.  Also, notice in OOZ's pictures above, that we had beaches in AH1, yet in AHII, it took years for them to be back.  Also, I think the water looked better in AH1 than most versions of AH2 (the new version still makes me wet myself tho).

A-HA! I had that page bookmarked and he moved it! That's why I'd uploaded the one linked earlier; I thought it was gone.

I only tried AH1 offline.  Although AH2 always appears too pastel to me, AH1 was almost neon.

Great stuff! Ah, the memories of my initial enthusiasm for the game- and burning up Flayed1's perks in Tempests before I figured out what the hell I was doing. :uhoh  :bolt:

Ah, the memories...  I always thought the Aces High terrain gelled really well even though it was low-res--I especially liked the beaches.  I really liked some of the CT maps like the frozen FinRuss map we had or that sweet customized Pacific island invasion map (can't remember the island) that had little pixelated cities.
It's taken us a looonnngg time to get back alot of the terrain diversity that we had in AH1 (and to ditch the checkerboard), and I've always been a little sad about it (Can we have another desert map like AKPizza?  :x).

I remember angrily quiting AH1 for a few months when they killed the laser bomb site and added bomb-scattering wind (even though they added the desert terrain and the A-20, too), but now I'm thankful since it finally forced me to start dogfighting full-bore...   :salute
