Yeah it's out but with some big problems.

Here's a big screenshots thread.

Based on my dissatisfaction with the Il-2 series I'll wait to hear some of the reviews from the community here before I bother with it (no way am I gonna trust Maddox's fanboys. Saying something even MILDLY negative about Il-2 on their forums is like emailing Osama bin-Laden a picture of Muhammad eating bacon). If it's just Il-2 with a shinier facade I'll pass.

I have more interest in the post modern era interaction of river rocks in my backyard garden than I do of anything related to BoB.  Yet those screens are compelling.

Come on guys. The first picture is a 2 dimension picture only, designed in such a manner that inner part seem  3 dimensional.

Very easy to reproduce also on slower pc.

Reading through the comments on that thread, it sounds like it IS just Il-2 with a fancier cover.

Damn its sad to read that one guy with almost the exact same specs as my system is only getting 3-10fps in a single mission with only 4-6 aircraft up flying...most of them AI planes.

I've seen a few videos and the control system looks so spongy, just like Wings of Prey. Yuck!

OMFG! Have you guys seen the CoD sub forum on SimHQ? Pretty much every post is a complaint.

Do not want!

At the moment, it's an early-mid range beta. A bunch of stuff is missing and there are many bugs.  But potential is evident...once things get fixed, it will be a new benchmark for WW2 simulation, just as IL2 was back in 2001.

Current Kings of simulation genre
Modern - DCS A-10. (next AC, maybe, F-18C!)
WW1 - Rise of Flight
WW2 - modded IL2? Cliffs of Dover to take crown...

Saddest thing is that it seems reduced to using 32-bit and a single core of your cpu.  What happened to the days where a publishing company wouldn't release something that wasn't complete and working?  I'm really starting to miss those days.

Edited for manglish.

Didn't get much time to play with it last night, and only skimmed through the SimHQ thread, but I didn't see anyone mention fiddling with affinity of CPU cores for the COD.exe, going to try that tonight.

As has been mentioned, it's not as polished as it should be, but that'll be resolved I'm sure.

Of course Aces is still my go to game of choice, but it's nice to have alternatives.

with the amount of time the game was under development and it was released in this state doesn't speak well for the dev team.

Nice to see a modern looking flight sim. Very nice.

Used to see the same detail in damage in "B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th"

While not as crisp as current graphics. Keep in mind this is from a game from 12 years ago And even these picture arent as clear a you would see in game

One of the cool features of the game is as you moved through the plane. The crew acted as if you were really there and would move out of your way.
Was a really nice touch

Heres a Youtube video. If you dont want ot watch the entire thing I suggest fast forwarding to the 4:04 mark on (intense "flak so thick you could walk on it") and then paying particular attention at the 5:42 mark for some real nice damage effects  That we  still dont have even here yet  :headscratch:

It was such a major disappointment when they announced that the Mighty 8th wasn't going to have multiplayer as they'd been promising :(

@ Ack-Ack, totally agree, although it wouldn't be the first game this year that wasn't especially playable on release day, mores the pity.
